Ordinarily, I wouldn't have been concerned but with the tumour, you just can't take a chance. It could well be something else, something completely benign, but given the current pathology, you need to rule out the serious things first.
Hope it all gets sorted.

My "LOL" was in response to the fact that the doctor could say with no more or less certainty than me what the cause is.
F*cking arsing arse.
::EDIT:: That was not targeted at anyone BTW.

I believe that would also be my thought in your situation. You need to know, but a part of you don't necessarily want to find out... Here's hoping for an early appointment so you can move on. Not knowing doesn't change the facts, and the facts may well be better than you fear. *fingers crossed*

Got an MRI appointment for tomorrow afternoon!
Very conveniently works with my audiology appointment.
Hopefully I'll be able to get some results by next week.

Not a stupid question. I hope it's poss to get the hearing back but first we have to find out what is causing this in the first place. Hopefully these tests will show us what's going on and only then I'll be able to get a prognosis. Hopefully I'll have some results from these tests at some point next week.

Yes, fingers crossed it's nothing, Olly. Hope the docs work fast to give you the facts - in the meantime, try not to worry (I know, that's not easy), and do keep us posted on the results. I'm sure it's not as bad as you're thinking it might be, I had a lump in my mouth removed a few months ago, but I had convinced myself it was mouth cancer in the months I had to wait to get it removed - at least things are moving faster for you, which can only be a good thing. Good luck for tomorrow.

I had my audiology hearing test thingy today and they showed me the audiogram afterwards. The audiogram is a chart of frequencies and volumes and at each frequency they mark the volume threshold of what you can hear. (One chart for each ear) The image below shows the chart with some pics of what would go where on the chart. For my right ear everything was under 20db. This is good. An average person's hearing will be 20db or less across the chart. Might left ear was way down at 90-100 db for each frequency. LOL! Basically I have severe hearing loss in my left ear. I asked for the audiologists opinion and she said it seemed more like nerve deafness (basically anything from the inner ear to the brain) (as opposed to my eustation tubes being blocked or eardrum perforation etc...) I mentioned what I thought might be the possible cause and asked for a prognosis. She said that if I was lucky and there was no nerve damage then I may get my hearing back. Apart from that speculation (which was good) I really still don't have any idea what's going on. I'll call my doctor on Monday to push for a results appointment.

Good luck I've had terrible hearing since my teens, blew both ear drums in a rugby accident.
