whats HC? whats perp?

Given that the comment was from Edd, I'm going to guess that they are rugby teams, and there is a match on, which will make local travel rather labourious.

Apologies; yes. HC = Heineken (or just H when it's held in France due to obscure advertising laws) Cup. Perp is Perignan and they are playing against Tigers in Leicester. Someone turning up in a Robin Reliant full of flashbangs would go down well.

Congrats to all the family

I'm not entirely sure why people are seemingly congratulating you, MrStevenRogers, but if you wouldn't mind passing on my hearty congratulations to the new parents, that'd be nice of you.

Funnily enough Mark when Emily was born (in Nottingham) 50 miles away in Balsall Common the Grandmother was receiving congratulations cards. As in congratulations on becoming a Grandmother. I don't get it?

Probably because they had produced offspring that where able to reproduce themselves without becoming Darwin entrants. ;)

Hallmark strike again.

On a similar subject has anyone noticed how many xmas decorations this year are saying Merry Christmas 2010? Just so you can't use them again.

Idle curiosity, are the terms 'millies and spides' used beyond NI and Scotland? I'd have guessed it was more of a Celtic thing...

Are they synonyms of chavs?

EDIT: Seems they are, pretty much. Wikipedia came up with a couple of others I'd not heard of:

Quote:
Other slang terms for "spides" include "smicks", "mokes" and "steeks".

I prefer the term "scallie".
