Re. Transformers. Loved it for what it was, but it would have been so much better with even a half-decent plot, and it probably would have been into TDK-levels of box office...

The way I see it, since we're all talking about 'franchises' before a film's even released, wouldn't it make sense to give it a better chance with a decent script? Salvation being a very good example - even the 'good' reviews make it clear it's a bit of a mess :roll:

Oh, and I'm starting to think Empire and Total Film are afraid to give 'blockbusters' honest reviews in case the readership of one mag is so fickle that they jump to a more positive review in the other... You have to wonder when they eventually review the film on DVD and tell you it was dire all along :? (Though they seem to find a consensus when the net has previously slagged off something like Wolverine)

And while I'm on the subject of film mags, the new Filmstar magazine is an awful rehash of articles from other mags and the net - avoid it like the plague :shock:
