Now looking for some pithy quote as I will be buying it for myself, so happy birthday is out.

"I told you I would forget where I left this."

I was opting for either "We do not remember days; we remember moments. ~Cesare Pavese, The Burning Brand" or "Every man's memory is his private literature. ~Aldous Huxley". Though I might use yours instead.

How about: "I find you foreign and eccentric."

It is, but I can never remember the correct attribution, other than hearing it in Civ IV.

No, you just have to keep trying.
I tried for an hour and finally got my order placed, just awaiting the confirmation e-mail now.
Keep trying.

Well I have ordered it, waiting for the conformation email but I do have an order number so can now go to bed and wait for it to arrive, in 2 to 3 weeks time.

I was delayed because it was initially rejected by my bank so I had to ring them up and confirm who I was, and heard that I was the third or fourth person tonight who had to go through the same procedure to authorise payment to get an iPad 2. Apparently it might be down to the fact that Apple might not use the banks online verification system.

Well the confirmation email has arrived!! Being dispatched on 15th April for delivery on 26th April.

Woot!

I have found these to be extremely useful, might be worth keeping an eye out for when they get the iPad 2 ones done.

Old news I know, but it seems the queues were long in the uk this time.

http://www.gadgetsandgizmos.org/apple-i ... rd-queues/

I like my Apple kit and I would stand in a queue, especially if there was a T-shirt in the offing. However I have to admit that this seems a bit surprising/odd for a second generation product that is not markedly improved over the original.

I simply could not be bothered to queue that long. I am patient and will wait for my ordered iPad 2 to arrive.

I wouldnt stand in the line if Steve Jobs himself was massaging my balls while I waited. What's the point when I can get it a couple of weeks later? In all honesty out of those people who queue how many have a genuine need to have it that same day other than to say "I've got one, ner ner!"

Shall we email Steve on your behalf re the ball massaging? I have to agree. I could have been one of the first to get one. I have the opportunity to sit outside the store for days ahead. It simply was not worth it. I have other things to do and if the initial reports of problems with the cameras are correct then chances are I could have that problem fixed before mine even arrives.

Hmm, your post got me thinking.

CC's reasons for being in an Apple Store queue

(In no particular order)

  1. To get your mug on the telly or in newspaper
  2. To get free Tshirt
  3. To get a full year of "smug" before the next one is out
  4. To enhance your wacky reputation
  5. To enhance your geeky reputation
  6. To make geeky friends
  7. To get away from the girlfriend for a while
  8. To be able to say "I got one you haven't Ner Ner"
  9. To get your app. tested on the hardware ASAP
  10. To get an exclusive gift for a friend
  11. To get an exclusive gift for you
  12. To make a few quid on Ebay
  13. To buy as many as you can for that nice Russian fellow who is paying you to queue for him
  14. To sell you place in the queue
  15. To be out with that Apple fanboy you fancy so much.
  16. To prove to your psychiatrist that it is too early to come off the meds

There may be more.
:D
