Funnily enough the sequels for that were quite good also (well 2 and 3, haven't seen 4)

I have the original somewhere I've just realised*. It was on one of those discs you got with cheap DVD players, you know, '50 free movies!' - mostly Shi'ite! :oops:

The Luc Besson versions were good for a laugh. The American remake was dire! (Saw some of it on TV.)

America seems to have a habit of looking at European (and World Cinema in general) and going "wow, that is excellent! Let's re-make it for a dumb American audience!" Then totally miss the whole point of the film and make a dire pastiche of the original.

The Luc Besson Taxis are all brilliant. Classically Luc and hilarious. I haven't dignified the yank version by watching it.

Didn't know there was a three. I've got two and enjoyed that. Will have to look out for three.
