Macaroon trial run done. They came out quite nice. I used too big a circle for the first half and a smaller circle For the second half. The first lot were flat and the underneath wasn't flat. The second lot rose up nicely and the bottom was smooth and flat. I know what to do on Saturday now Made the meringue mix in my processor and the buttercream too Perfect!

Oh, and they need more pink colouring. I put about 8 drops in the mix this time so maybe around 12 next time.

Ok, had my dinner now. Time for a picture... Next batch... smaller circles on the baking paper. They're nice though. Crispy outside and chewy ish centre.

Thanks They're macaroons. Needs more pink as normally they're brightly coloured. Very nice though.

They look very impressive Mr Foggin. Really should have a go at them myself.

Thanks I was reading some other recipes last night and I'll be changing my method slightly next time. Hopefully they will turn out a lot better.

Very impressed. Will you be applying for the next British Bake Off? Suggestion of a recipe to try: Raspberry Cheesecake Brownie

I don't "get" macaroons. I know they're hard to make, but I don't think they're very nice.

I've had some in the past that were a bit meh. Normally store bought ones. If you have the ones from Betty's they're very nice. Light and taste nice as a treat.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I have thought about giving GBBO a try I'll have to improve my repertoire though. I wonder when the next season is auditioning?

I agree with Mr Lumb, and also isn't that the whole point of life in general... keep trying to get better?

I think that the solution is to break the problem down into manageable parts and deal with it that way. It can also be much cheaper to make them yourself than buy them ready made. Scones are £2 for a pack of 4 in the local Tesco express and they must be a fraction of that to make. Even baking does not add much to my electricity bill so they must be making a big profit from peoples laziness. I make my own bread now and it is so much cheaper, than a loaf in a supermarket, even with their economies of scale. I can make a loaf for just over 90p whereas a similar tasting loaf would be closer to double that.

Would I be correct in assuming you use a breadmaker? Jon
