A friend of mine who commutes daily has this and another for getting refunds IIRC. It makes commuting so much easier. Only wish it was about when I was commuting.

There's been a few occasions when a train hasn't materialised when it should have and I've checked on here and found out it was cancelled or delayed. I've even had a fellow commuter look over my shoulder and ask 'What app is that?"

Very useful.

I'm gonna have to go through all that later - I'd totally forgotten about 'droid Spotify!

A lot of them are for work, network scanning and remote access and IP phone stuff. Pretty dull. I only posted because I wanted to see if I really had as many as I thought, but I CBA to count them now

I have a similar app for buses, and there is good public transport journey planner for London that is worth looking at as well.

I saw uTorrent Remote there - do you use the standard uTorrent app? It's not bad. I never really got along with ttorrent.

Trying to move my fiancé from iPhone to Android... Very frustrating as she does not have an iCloud or a Gmail account, so no easy way to synch the contacts from one to the other.

Where is the master address book? Mine is on my iMac, but I also have iCloud. If her's is on the computer could you use that version or could you get it onto the computer somehow? Could you bluetooth the contacts? There is some software called DiskAid which could help?

I started using the standard app in Italy rather a lot. Great to be getting some downloading done whilst enjoying an after-ski beer without having to have the netbook on me at all times. I suspect it will get more usage over the summer.

My smartphone is extremely functional and useful for a lot of things. But not as many as most of you. For example, I don't have Facebook on it as I want it to be a useful tool - not a distraction. I find that it's a fine line between the two...

Luckily the eldest daughter called back, she now doesn't want the old iPhone, she wants a Nolkia Lumia 820 instead, so my fiancé is back on the iPhone... Except she is now asking how she can get the time and weather displayed on the home screen - she likes the widgets on the Android and can't understand why she can't do the same with the iPhone. :?

That is a problem. Phones get stolen or lost. I would never remember anyone if I lost the phone, but if it did happen I could buy a new phone and simply update everything from the cloud. Clearly data back up is a problem. Thinking about it is there a way she could back up to drop box? That would be accessible to android phones as well.

She would also need a Dropbox account...

You seem to be under the impression, that if someone has a smartphone, they automatically have accounts with internet services. She has a Yahoo mail account and a Skype account, that she hasn't used in 4 years.

Dave, the early 90s rang, they're missing your fiancé. ;)
