Microsoft have removed a lot of the accessory programs from the core operating system and added them to the Live suite. I guess it allows them to reduce the cries of monopoly abuse, while letting OEMs install it on new machines, if they want to and end users can decide whether they want to install the crud or not.

I haven't installed any of the suite yet, I haven't found a program out of the suite that I need on my machines.

I was surprised to see Windows Mail was removed, I thought it looked reasonably capable, but Thunderbird will do.

Just tried to share my dad's "My Documents" folder on my PC so he can see it on his laptop.

What a nightmare :x

Worked out how to share it but it just wouldn't!

Found a registry fix in the end after doing a bit of googling - so thats one minus point for Win7 as XP was far far easier re. sharing folders.

Live! is an excellent suite which includes Mail. Provided you have less than 10,000 emails, then it's better that Outlook for the average home user. It's a free download.

Yeah, I know, I tried it.

I kinda like thunderbird though.
