Why?

Some of us are old enough to remember the last time the Tories had control.

It wasn't pleasant.

Okay, so New Labour took the Conservative mantle and carried it on for a further decade-and-a-bit, perhaps made it even worse, but even so they're a known quantity of sh!tness. Mr Cameron's mob scares me.

In my area it's a bit of a two horse race between Labour and Tory, so I had to vote Labour just to try and keep the tories out.

I still voted Liberal just in case there is another election. If enough people have also voted Liberal any Labour voters who get another chance of electing can vote Liberal next time.

In which case how would voting Conservative be a change? ;)

My dad always said the same thing about Labour's rule in the 70's.

Oh, very true. I remember sitting doing homework by candlelight.

Which really goes to show just how bad the British political system has become. A choice between two entrenched ideologies, or increasingly the same ideology separated by a different colour, or choose an alternative but untried ideology.

Voted Liberal, as I suspected. Not much of a choice really though - the tired old red/blue, the Greens, UKIP, the BNP and I think that was it.

Anyone watching the alternative election night on Channel 4?

So far it's really good! Comedy with a sprinkling of politics - win!

I can't be assed to drived the hour+ reqd to get to my polling station and I'm really of the opinion that who I vote for is irrelevant. Seeing all the colour based bickering in this thread reinforces my frustration and apathy with the country I live in, the other people who live in it and the system that governs us.
