£90! I wouldn't buy any version of Avatar unless it was 3D and I had a suitable TV to watch it on. In Imax 3D it was visually superb but I've seen it in its 2D version playing in HMV (I think) demonstrating the supposed improvement that Blu-Ray brings and thought that it wasn't worth it. I'd like the 'Making of...' book though.
I see the 'normal' Extended Collector's Edition (3 Discs) is £18 so I'm not sure that it is worth £70 more to have a numbered box and a couple of books.

Came damn close to spending £70 on an Endoskeleton skull that contained the first two Terminators on BR - the eyes lit up and everything!

So you don't need disposable income, just no sense! T2 on BD is a beautiful transfer, but I already have the THX Ultimate DVD, so £10 was quite enough thanks. Paul, I would love to see it again in 3D, but I'm not upgrading my whole system for one movie. So £18 will do nicely. Cheaper than most of the gash upscaled crap on the shelves in HMV. There are two BDs I want in the next few weeks, and that's Avatar and Inception. Nothing else is worthy. (Unless I go to Tesco again and hover at the Potter yrs 1-6 BD set for £25 which is frankly ludicrous and would allow me a 1080p catchup of Half-Blood prince and plug the holes in the rest of my DVD collection ).

I did quite like the Alien Quadrilogy set but the price was excessive. For that money I'd rather get a few more films.

I've got the THX DVD too The only other BR I've seen that I'd maybe buy was the recent Predator re-do... Has anyone seen TDK on BR? I've got it, and it just made all involved look really waxy

I too thoroughly enjoyed it. Saw it in 3D with my wife and Helsing.

Pleased to hear it Paul You haven't seen it?? WHAT THE [LIFTED] IS WRONG WITH YOU?! It's virtually THE most beautiful BD ever transferred. Star Trek and Iron Man are the only things that come close in my collection and probably most other peoples. The IMAX sequences are amazing. Very few BDs are worth their price tag on image quality alone, but TDK is head and shoulders above most.

Steady, steady! I have seen it (on three different TVs, though all running PS3s), and the image was sharper and brighter and all the rest of it, but I didn't like what it did for the look of the characters - Batman's super-shiny HD cowl FTL! I dunno, am I the only one who'd rather not see actors' pores and make-up? Though tbf, that isn't most BRs anyway

I'm sorry, but that sentence leads me to believe that none of the televisions in question were calibrated in any way. The depths and the blacks are superb in TDK and not shiny at all. Too much brightness and/or contrast at a minimum, methinks. Sort it out and get back to me Or just come over here and watch my copy on my TV.

That was a very quickly typed comment rather than have to think about the terms I was actually looking for, like 'vivid' I still don't want the sort of detail that makes everything look slightly freaky or otherworldly, it just detracts from the film IME

Calibrate your TV using a THX dvd then give it another go. Until I'd sorted the levels on my TV BR's look a little unreal. Now they look amazing.

In fact, calibrate every screen in your home with the THX optimiser. BD or not. Was trying to avoid being nerdy, Sas!

I prefer being a perfectionist than being a nerd. I'll accept being a geek though

Yeah, fair play. I wouldn't say perfectionist though, because I don't *completely* alter my room around my AV gear
