Can I get in an early request for adding the 2012 Olympics?

What about every other sport? Too good for you? :D

First things first, I am not English. British, yes, English, no. Why do the English seem to expect that the other home nations will get behind England? I support Wales, and the England cricket team because it isn't really English as the Welsh do play in the England team.

Second. I could enjoy football if it wasn't for all the hype. Apparently, no-one seriously believes that England can win, but from the moment they qualify for the tournament, we don't hear the end of it until they eventually go out. This, more than anything makes me want them to go out well and truly (4-0, let's say) tomorrow night and then perhaps everyone will [LIFTED] stop going on about it.

Third. I don't want to watch Ivory Coast play Germany. I don't even want to watch England. Put something else on the [LIFTED] telly, FFS!

Lots of us haven't wanted to watch endless hours of Soaps, Big Brother or Britain's Got X-factor Dancing On Ice Idol but we didn't get much of a choice either.

My point entirely. Maybe what Britain needs to go greener is an advertising campaign saying 'There is, in fact, an off-button on most TVs. No, it is not illegal to use it.'

Exactly

Sometimes there will something on that you want to watch but a lot of times there won't.

I get the Times most days, which has a daily sports supplement, yet they still seem to insist on filling the rest of the paper up with world cup 'news'. It is ****** irritating.

And my point is that Big Brother or Britain's Got X-factor Dancing On Ice Idol, etc. aren't played in the pubs (at least not the ones I go in) and aren't generally paraded around the streets.
Yes they are on the TV, in the news, and in the gabble that is the office gossips, but that's about it...

With the World Cup, we seem overrun by BNP supporters, at least one might think as much with the amount of England flags that are around...

Ooooh, flag fail. The BNP use the Union Flag, not the Cross of St. George. And anyhow, I'm slightly disturbed that your first thought at the sight of the English national flag is "BNP". My first thought upon seeing the Welsh dragon isn't burning holiday homes.

Sport is shown in pubs for one reason - it draws people in and they gather that's what most of their patrons want to see.

Of course, it was tongue-in-cheek, but I didn't add the smiley. I thought people would probably get it....

I know. It's just annoying when it's on all five TV's and there is a group of four or five people watching it and the rest of the pub doesn't seem to care (you can see people squirrelled away in corners are far from TV's as possible)

Our local put up a big screen for last weeks game (Friday night) there was one guy watching the foopball and 4 others (us included) with our backs to it and once the game started we all left!

It's completely ridiculous that sport has such a high profile and that countries are judged almost entirely on their sporting prowess. Foopball is certainly the worst and I'm cool with people supporting sports (and their entrants in the 'lympics) but why does it have to be everywhere and all the time?

This is just one more time of year I'm pleased and proud that we don't own a tele.

It's only on once every 4 years, Wimbledon's on all day, every day for several weeks every year.

The biggest complainers in the public seem to be those who are generally adverse to sports in general. I think it'd be better all around if people took part in, and watched, more sport.

football is a scam. in my town in the pubs only play crappy football on tv, the place I hang out in most (another town) the pubs NEVER play football but music videos instead (thank f**k) Its extremely depressing in own hometown to find in pubs all the regulars only talking about football where as "other town" they talk about everything
