The picture of the square on this page doesn't exactly look like a typical London square.

What are the chances that when these protesters are evicted that they install moguls?

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Just pitching tents across the grass for weeks, and making paths walking between them for starters. It's difficult to camp somewhere for more than a week without generating some mess... you have to eat, wash (maybe), go to the loo etc. :? You may be tidy and considerate but I can't believe they all are.

Whilst obviously the grass will have changed from their presence, it's only difficult to camp without mess if you're messy. Ray Mears doesn't leave a mess, Bear Grylls doesn't leave a mess. I'd like to think I don't. It's incredibly weak that the argument to be used against these people is that they might be making a mess. Weak and cynical.

But that's what I've come to expect I suppose....

BBC

Quote:
A High Court judge has granted Mayor of London Boris Johnson's request for an eviction order, citing vandalism.

Protesters were given the deadline to allow time for appeals and some have vowed to resist eviction.

Tents and flags have transformed the green into what demonstrators call Democracy Village.

Mr Johnson said the camp had caused "considerable damage".

Sounds a little more than that to me. And I didn't know Bear Grylls was in the camp teaching them all how to avoid being messy. As I said, just because you can do something doesn't mean everyone else will). Anyway, I made this comment as a side issue :?

Maybe you did. But it's Boris Johnson's only argument. And it's weak.

But as I pointed out to JJ, it seems most people don't deserve or want better government. </Marxism>

Well, he was arguing about the potential effect on tourism too IIRC :|

Get a clue Ernie. No tourist has said, "I'd rather not visit parliament because the grass there has protesters on it." Seriously. It's a weak argument. They want them gone because they are made to look bad and because the protesters are highlighting things the government aren't likely to address. Just be honest about it.

You really think tourism is being affected??

I've shown a few Danes around London recently and they have been just as interested in the protest as parliament. I didn't ask if they had been put off by it, but they were interested. :)

Look at Speakers corner. Packed with tourists. Protesters might make it interesting, bit of police brutality, democracy in action. etc.

No I don't think tourism is being affected.

Do you think I put the ' :| ' in my post for the sake of it? ;)
