Was gonna post this in the original thread but thought it a bit insensitive. In the news section there's a link to a murder/suicide and I spotted another interesting article. It was about a couple who wanted to book a hotel for a wedding reception and accidentally got sent an email from one of the employees trying to get rid of them. The couple went to the press and said they were "respectable and middle class" or something. Turned out the bride-to-be was a girl who worked on one of those babestation type channels, and the guy was involved in running the company.

My students weren't happy this afternoon, when I told them I'm leaving at the end of the month. Several said it wasn't worth turning up for maths if I want there, as I was the first teacher who had explained things in a way that they understood.

Sounds like a much better way of judging teachers than stupid grades.

Finished translating our website into English and it is now live... But the hosted is under attack and it takes around 5 minutes to load the pages!

It is very difficult translating marketing speak into English! Some things I wrote, I have now re-written several times, because they sound odd. I think I'll be refining the text over the next few weeks as better phrasing comes to mind,

If you are interested, http://www.sla.de/en if you look carefully you will find my photo.

Scotch egg. I find most pork pie crusts are too dry. Isn't this a 'dis or dat' question :D.

A friend has 2 Lady Gaga tickets for sale.
I appreciate this probably isn't her demographic, but if you know someone who might be after a couple, drop me a line.

After 4 years of use, I'm running Malwarebytes over my PC for the first time.

I've had to support a couple of family members, whose PCs were infected with hundreds of click hijackers and viruses and they had professional anti virus software installed. After the machines had become so slow, that they were pretty much unusable and the users were complaining that they couldn't get to Google etc. I installed malwarebytes and it did a good job of cleaning up the machines. I only had to resort to a factory reset (thank you Windows 8) on one machine.

I've only ever used the delivered MS Defender / AV. I'll be interested to see what it comes up with.

Edit: After fifteen minutes, it has given my PC a clean bill of health. Phew! I hadn't really expected anything, but given MS's poor reputation and the fact that the other PCs, with "better" protection were infested, you never know. I guess at the end of the day it comes down to safe surfing.

I use Firefox with NoScript for visiting any new sites I don't trust and generally only enable the minimum number of scripts on sites I regularly visit; for example on the PC Pro site, I enable scripts from 4 domains that are needed for the site to work properly, the rest are left disabled.

On Thursday in London a colleague and I let a young lady onto the Baker Street underground train before us. She literally could not comprehend what was happening and just stood there for a while looking puzzled.
