No. It's rubbish. I do like the time vortex though. Mark

I accept that this may be because I put a lot of store in Steven Moffat as show runner but in general this season has disapointed me and this penultimate episode didn't change that. I realise that I am in the minority, possibly of 1, but I just expected better. The story arc for this season has been well thought out just over rushed, every episode seemed to spend over half it's runtime rushing from one idea to the next, all the while trying to top previous episodes, not just 4 Angels, a planet full, not just the Birth of the Daleks, but a rebirth of bigger, better Dalek.
We then get to the central idea behind 'Pandorica', a pact between the various baddies of the show, all of whom seem to suddenly have the ability to time travel, is created to imprison the Doctor rather than just killing him as they have all been trying to do for 30+ series, for me it doesn't work. The alliance just felt like Mofft being so excited at having the toys all to himself, he was going to use everything all at once. Now if that means he is going to get rid of the Daleks, the Cybermen and the Sylthene (sp) etc and create a whole load of new monsters, that is one thing, but they have obviously invested time and money in Daleks 2.0 so I can't see that being the case.
I like the Matt Smith as the Doctor, he has really grown into the part as far as the scripts have allowed him and Karen Gillan has definately made the companion role her own, whilst following in the footsteps of Sarah Jane, Romana and Leela, rather than Rose Tyler & Donna but there has been far too much running about and far too little story in most episodes to allow for real character development. In general it feels almost as if Moffat is trying to reboot the entire series in a not-rebooting the entire series kind of a way, and needs to get this series out of the way to allow him to do so.
I have just reallised whilst writing this what has been niggling at the back of my mind about this, and it's Heroes. Series one built to a climax that was a major let-down because it couldn't live up to the hype, they then tried to press the reset button is series two, whilst not quite resetting the entire series, and it never recovered.
I hope the same is not true here, but I worry...

I can understand your concerns and to extent, I share them. Heroes is a prime example of bringing together a large climax and then being utterly unable to go anywhere else. That said, I'm convinced a large part of that was due to the strike. Having all the baddies converge at the end of the ep felt a little anti-RTD to me. Like the negative of having all the goodies appear in an RTD finale. Where can Moffat go from here??? However, whilst I agree about also myself having high expectations for Moffat which have been largely disappointed, I wouldn't say this series has been awful. The opener was fantastic, last weeks was one of the best eps ever in my book. There have been great moments and I absolutely LOVE Smith. It just hasn't felt as good as any of the 4 rebooted seasons or specials. Aside from the ludicrous baddie-fest, this ep gave me hope for the arc situation and I absolutely love the temporal mechanics at work. I think it was Paul who theorised about this a few weeks ago and I'm still thinking about it. Overall, a lot rides on next week and if they can avoid him screwdrivering his way out with 30 secs to spare, we might actually have a decent show again.

Paul(zolo), the new toy was indeed taking up all my time yesterday. Paul(1965) that'll be getting watched tomorrow (Saturday) night, but don't worry, I haven't forgotten about reviewing it afterwards. (8+) Mark
