Is this anxiety normal? which has steadily got worse and worse, places I used to be comfortable with im shy massivly now and find it really difficult to go in my fave cafe to get my usual, currently being "bullied" by a hungarian trash at work when im working in the yard, one has such a horrendously awful attitude and thinks he can boss me about etc. I currently hate my job, its so stereotypical of a truckyard with mechanic trash who are gossipy two faced and will steal your stuff when they get the chance. I was asked by the foreman to salt the yard and hungarian trash goes up to me and says "thats not your f***ing job" right up to my face and shouting over and over "do u want conflict?" and "you think im a moron" my adrenalin shot right up, ive already reported this creature twice and I had to concentrate so hard to just not react atall with images in my head battering the guy to death with my shovel. First time I reported him he got me so wound up I literally had my hands on my head and my brain was telling me to completly trash the place but I resisted all that.
He plays the "racism card" a lot which is nonsense seeing as its attitude I have problem with not nationality. One time when he was ill he actually asked if I had spiked his drink.
Another instance I was shunting about trailers and tyre fitter asks to move a trailer for him and hungarian trash quickly flies towards me in his truck and Im just about to connect and he quickly tries to park near me to get the trailer and throws a tantrum "dancing" in the truck and drives off again all angry.
another instance with the same person he says stuff like "randomly saying "you think im crazy? you will run away if I get crazy, I fight anyone who doesnt respect me" borderline threat????
Ive never worked with such a horrible sack of s**t in my life and I would laugh crazy if he got ran over or something happened to him. Is this the reason subconciously I have isolated myself so badly outside of work? I never see any of my friends anymore or talk to, I will be applying to my fave cafe as they said I should apply, I belive the good vibe of that cafe will bring out the once extrovert and positive me. to hell with trucks -.- what would a normal person do in this situation? I feel I cant report as it makes things more awkward etc, the trash is already on his final warning
another instance: "I was working at a farm start 8am hungarian starts 12, boss asks for the next trailer to be washed 10 to 12pm, have to leave for farm again (with yardsman) as a favour I quickly picked up and parked the trailer to park on washbay and say to hungarian that boss wants this one washed next, then I head off to farm and hungarian shouting top of voice swearing at me "fn bastard" etc. Its hard to belive he has wife and 2 kids.
theres more instances but I think that gives a clear picture of this piece of dirts personality. I just have no clear idea how to fix this for good,

Don't go to work again, write them a letter to explain your situation, ring someone you trust and explain if you feel you want to, and I mean as of now, don't go to work tomorrow, you are free in this world, the welfare state is there for this exact situation while you look for other work, you should never have to be in a situation where you are bullied. Enjoy your freedom mate, and I mean this in all seriousness, don't spend one more minute in that environment. You are totally correct, a positive stress free environment and you will feel a million times better. Stay away from people like the man you describe, he sounds psychotic.
[LIFTED] notice period by the way, just walk out. Your managers have failed in their duty to provide you with a safe environment in which to work, you have grounds for an employer's liability claim if the bullying was bad, however I'm not sure it would be worth the hassle to run the claim.

Dual nationality. Possibly a third if Scotland gets independence.

Why does this dickhead architect send emails to my project director and my (male) grad asking questions about my project and consistently leaves me out of any correspondence? Today he did better, he emailed the office secretary to talk to a senior director behind my back asking for info.

Our MD: - has not long shouted at one of the Helpdesk guys for using his iPhone in work hours
- has just given me his laptop and asked me to reinstall iTunes
- cannot see any incongruity between items 1 and 2

Yes, I got grief for trying to help a girl with her mobile from a woman who spends half an hour chatting to friends on the work phone most days. Some people don't realise or think they'll get away with it, both work for them...

I think that they do not think that the rules apply to them.

I don't believe when you register at Companies House you get sent a piece of paper with 'permission to be a dick' written on it.

Probably not, but you probably get saddled with a nagging feeling that the company's fortune rise and fall on the people you employ, their skills, your own drive and commitment to keeping the wheels on the enterprise, and yes, the luxury to ask one of your employees to install iTunes because maybe, possibly, you're busy doing other [LIFTED] to keep that employee in work. Just a thought. There are worse things to be asked, trust me I've been there.

No, he doesn't. The CTO owns it and only puts up with the MD because he "can't be bothered with invoices, spreadsheets and politics"

God, so have I. However I'd observe that if you act like a dick and demand your staff doing things that are patently not business related, demeaning to them and a poor use of their time, eventually your best staff are going to get fed up and leave. And then you'll be buggered. Acting like a dick is not good management. It's that simple.

You would be surprised how many bosses are like that. The business actually runs in spite of them rather than because of them. I have seen it in so many companies. In my experience it is the norm rather than the exception.

FFS BBC, sort out iPlayer! Even a simple search gives an error message on my laptop sometimes*, and it's just getting worse on the PS3.
* And the search parameters are totally weird; sometimes typing or searching the first word of a show's title might not give you anything, yet the last word will!
