How to take a single day off work, but have that day give you five days off in a row; the 24th of December. The most economical use of a days annual leave that I can think of.

What are you saving those days for? Or do you use them throughout the year?

I get six weeks of annual leave a year. Goes from Jan-Dec. I started in August but apparently was allowed three weeks from Aug-Dec despite it not being pro-rata. Consequently, because I didn't take all of my annual leave, I'm getting paid it.

I'm a contract worker, so I don't know how long I'll be in employment by my current employer, even though I've been with them for 15 months now, my current contract is set to expire at the end of January. If they do decide not to keep me on, I'll want as many holidays available to me so that I get paid for them. Mark

That explains a lot. Thanks for clearing that up.

Gross Warning.......Don't Read if eating or sensitive.....
Sick of this now. Body is over-producing serum at the belly button site causing an egg-sized and shaped lump which keeps leaking out of the wound in quantity. I'm going through dressings like they're going out of fashion and have very sore skin around the area from being permanently wet.
I'm quite happy to recuperate normally, but I dread to think what this is doing to the chances of that wound being healed when the stitches dissolve!!
I wish everything would just shut up and heal without all this excess buggering about!!

A guy in work has forgotten his router password and it's not the default. Any way round that other than a reset?

You would bust your fist on my face if you tried that with me.

I know that feeling. I get 28 days a year, but I'm limited to three periods off a year. So If I (for example) wanted to go to firends weddings in February, June and November, that would be all my holidays used up for the entire year.

So, my mother sits on some church parish council thing. She was asked to second a motion to debate the thorny subject of gay marriage - by someone who thought she might be opposed to it. She's not; in fact, she's attended a gay civil partnership. However, she clearly feels that this is a subject that needs to be debated. The meeting has gone on for hours with much heat and light being generated. Just made me smile, that at 70, she's still capable of being an agent provocateur.

If you have to ask, you probably shouldn't be allowed it!
