Tesco Direct.
First order was late due to a cock up with the delivery instructions so they were supposed to update them, never got updated so never got the parcel. They sent a replacement via Yodel.
The original order looks like it is due to be delivered today.....

They're utterly useless, but it's worked out for me once or twice

Hermes obviously never got the instruction to return to sender, tried to deliver today (again, after a week of not bothering) to the office... at 8pm... Finally got the order from Yodel though yesterday, phone is very nicely made and the gf is happy for me to get her Lumia in a swap for it as a dev device

First of all a genius ruins a watch I was perfectly happy with. Then a watch arrives that nobody in their right mind would persist with (pulling the face out to reach a wheel I can't even turn it's that small). And now a watch has arrived with an enormous plastic bubble over the date that wasn't in the photo, and it's marked internally face-wise. All this because my mother took the initial perfectly good watch to a fcuking cowboy

Could everyone confirm for me how long they had to watch trailers for at their cinema for a recent (say 2014) release? Went to the Vue in Star City to watch Captain America 2. Screening was 1405. We got in for 1330 and got our food fairly quickly so by 1335 we were ready but still had to wait for the screen room to be ready. Nothing on screen until 1405 at which point we were subjected to 35 mins of trailers.
A couple of weeks back, I went to an Odeon cinema (it was AMC but got taken over) and again had to wait a good 30-40 mins of trailers before the film started.
In all honesty, I've paid for the film. I don't mind a few trailers to get in the mood but 30 mins is taking the piss. By that point my eyes had already glazed over by the time the film started.

Holy fcuk, Batman! That's way too much time to be watching trailers Dunno how long recent trailer fests have been (I tend to mess about with my phone 'til one new to me appears), but there's a LAUGHABLE Dove ad that seemed to go on for five minutes on it's own... four minutes apparently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGDMXvdwN5c

Yep, normally add about half-an-hour on to the screening times of films at the cinema. It's been like this for quite some time now.

Not sure, but I think here it is around 15 minutes, including adverts.

That sounds about right for NZ.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

So the Student Loan Company (SLC) decided to sell/pass on my outstanding loans to another company so they were no longer directly on the governments books. The new company, Erudio Student Loans (ESL), didn't send me any paperwork to tell me that this had happened and the only notice I got from SLC was a name change on the letter I received confirming that my loans had been deferred for a year (didn't exactly stand out). A bit pants to be sure but not worth getting bothered about... until ESL ignored my loan deferment and started taking money off me (see tails of fail).
So, I phone up ESL to find out what the heck they think they're playing at. They claim that SLC didn't tell them that I had deferred my loans for a year and they'd look into it. I got a letter on Saturday saying thanks for my complaint, they were looking into it and would respond within 8 weeks. 8 WEEKS! How can it possibly take up to 8 weeks to sort out a simple clerical error - especially when I sent them a copy of the deferment confirmation from SLC?
Gah! I swear this is a ploy to make it so much hassle to defer repayment of loans that everyone gives up.

Just had my wallet stolen. I normally lock the door to my room even if going for a leak down the corridor. Sod's law today of all days I forget and BOOM it's gone. Worse, I didn't realise until I had an urgent call from my bank stating they think someone's carrying out a fraudulent transaction using my card. That's when I realised my wallet was gone. He then said they tried to take £1000 (which was odd because I'd done transactions in that amount before without any issues) and wanted my PIN to block the account (alarm bells!). I stalled and said I'd need to ring him back, whereupon he tried to state I'd be in a queue and have to wait. He gave me a number (quick google showed it to be fake).
Feel sick. Rang bank and credit card companies to cancel cards. No attempted fraudulent transactions.
Feel annoyed because it's an inconvenience. He has my driver's license, gym card, BMA card, etc. Probably stole £30 in cash.
And all this happened because I decided to go downstairs to get some water and then stayed there to help out clear the backlog of work instead of doing my own work in my room.

Well that sucks. Any chance the perp will have been caught on CCTV or something?

There's no CCTV in the upstairs waiting area, only one to cover reception and one to cover the till. I have argued for more but been shot down based on cost/fiddliness. On the reception one there's one guy who sounds like the perp who rang me (he wanted to register a relative but didn't know their address) and there's one guy who signed into a visitors book and then took out a wallet, leafed through it, and tried to pay for a prescription. Same name on appointment book and he gave his car reg details.

Windows XP. Aside from that bloody annoying box that keeps appearing in the bottom of the screen, telling me that if I don't upgrade bad things might happen to polar bears* it seems to have slowed down a lot during the last week or two. I wonder if Microsoft have slipped it a mickey, just to encourage me to upgrade... </paranoia> * polar bears may or may not have been explicitly mentioned. I can't remember, your honour.
