I think companys take kids as idiots or something, my sisters baby has toys and stuff designed for 5-8 year olds when she was just 2.

They have to, because some kids are idiots.

I'm thinking that the boy might need company more than toys tbh. Something that can be done by an adult might be better no?

What's the youngest age at which things like Meccano and Airfix are suitable? I have a 7-year old cousin who loves playing video games, doesn't want to study and lost his father over a year ago. Thought it might be worth going for some stuff that he can make/build that should hopefully prove fun as well as educational and with the aim of improving his concentration, hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Debating whether to leave it until he is 8. That's about the time I got my first Meccano set.

Meccano is advertised as Ages 8 to 88.

According to Amazon, the Airfix kit I first built is also for age 8 and up.

I'd say it's at his mother's discretion whether or not he's likely to eat it or not.

I would imagine you could get a good idea from talking to him. Seven is pretty close so I would think it might be fine.

The saddest thing is that the only real close father figure is me so the plan was for me and him to spend some time doing this together. He will be spending Xmas with his grandparents.

My mate's staff/lab dog sunk it's teeth into their miniature jack russell's wind pipe and punctured it - it's body swelled with oxygen too. Basically, tiny tears winds the big docile thing up until it can't take it any more. One way or another, it won't be doing it again I guess

I read that as "lab staff dog". As in a dog that was a member of staff in a laboratory.

It took 3 goes before I figured it out

Trying out a new eBay sniping program. Not sure if I have it set up properly but lets see how it goes.

Dunno about the stores, but they exist as much as Lovefilm does ie a bit crap.

I think Xmas has saw me buying presents for myself - games, a BR Stallone box set, graphic novels, and a sweets dispenser (although that might go into work at least). You know me, all on the cheap, but still...
