Kindle Voyage arrived this morning. Looks pretty good, although I've only read in daylight so far. I like that the side buttons are back, instead of having to use the touch screen to change pages, although you need a fair amount of pressure to change pages.

The X-Ray and dictionary features are very nice - the latter was something I used frequently on my old Kindle, but as you have to go back to the main screen, page through to the back of the collection, find the dictionary and then start typing the word you want to find and with more complicated German words, I'd sometimes have to go back and forth a couple of times; now just pressing on the word and waiting for the dictionary entry to appear is great.

But the X-ray feature didn't work the first time I tried it - the book I am reading doesn't have any X-ray data.

1. My bank just called to say they were querying a transaction (paying off a holiday). Slightly frustrating that it didn't go through first time but nowhere near as frustrating as had it been fraudulent.
2. I went into Victoria's Secret at the weekend. First time I'd ever entered any of those types of shops. Girlfriend took me.

It wasn't that bad but yeah a little underwhelming. I'm sure we spent more time at the fragrances section than the underwear section.

My wife has some Ted Baker stuff from Debenhams. I think her wedding underwear might have been too actually. I'm a sucker for satin feel underwear so it's all good with me!

Don't have a car accident in Germany if you are drunk and disqualified from driving...

A chef in Germany lost his licence and drove whilst drunk into a bank of earth. The accident resulted in broken bones and nerve damage in his arms, which meant he could no longer carry out his chosen career, or any other skilled job. As a result he applied for a disability pension to supplement his income. The pensions department refused and he took them to court, and lost.

Now the court of appeal has agreed with the pensions department, if he had not been drunk, he would not have lost control of the vehicle and had the crash and driving while disqualified is a criminal offence. The two together are a reckless act in association with a criminal act, which means he forfits his right to a disability pension.

There is no jobseekers allowance over here.

He will probably get Harz IV, which is the basic unemployment benefit for long term unemployed. The disability pension would have boosted that up to a level that would have been equivalent to his income as a chef. The same goes for any job he gets, if it pays less than what he would have earned as a chef, the pension would have paid the difference, now he is on his own and will have to live with a reduced income.

So I got a parcel today. Bit surprised as the parcels I were expecting were either small and due to arrive this week, or larger and due to arrive next week. Whilst I took the parcel from the driver, I checked the address which appeared to be correct so signed for it. Driver went and I checked the contents. It's an exercise bike of sorts, requiring self assembly. No invoice inside.

Checked the label and they've stuck my address on a label but the postcode is wrong. I peeled off the label and underneath is the original label to a completely different address within the area.

I've fired off an email because I couldn't find a contact number.
