From the 'what's on you mind blah blah thread'.

How on earth do I buy a ring for the GF when the ones she owns are glued to her hands so I don't have one to measure?

Photos and a skilled jeweller? Aside from that, tranq her and take one off. I find most girls are susceptible to wine in that regard. Hopefully you won't have to resort to M99 in the neck ;)

Tie a bit of string round her finger while she is asleep to get the circumference you need then calculate the ring size based on the length/pi?

It's trying to be a secret, I think the M99 may give the game away. :D

Trouble is the one I'm after is hard to come by and it'll be shipped from the US.

Actually, thinking about it, I'll have to get her to make some pastry based thing, she always takes them off for that. Now, just to convince her that she needs to make pie. :D

Well my plan was easier, but I see why you won't do it. Fair enough.

Not a bad idea, she is a deep sleeper. :D

Depends whether you were referring to M99 - the gun, or M99 - the spiral galaxy. :D

Haven't you already asked the question, Dan?
If not then just get her the ring you want in a medium size (any jeweller will be able to advise you on this) and if it doesn't fit then either take it back to get a correctly sized ring or get the one you bought resized.

Like I said, it'll be getting shipped over as it's pretty hard to come by. Resizing though, I never thought of that. I've got a rough idea so if that's not too tricky that would be an option.

If it's a plain band ring then resizing is a fairly straight forward job for any reputable jeweller.

It's not but it is based on a normal ring so it may be possible.

Will have to cut her finger off to make sure. :D

Just bought my first printer in eleven years.

Does any want a working b&w laser Xero P8e and Netgear print server?
Only issue is that the only Windows drivers are for NT4, 95 & 2000 (2000 ones work on XP)
