Snowing hard here in Atherstone. It's been snowing since about 3pm and had thickened up over the last hour or so. We've got about 3inches and it's drifting to 6-7inches up against the house. The paddock looks amazing, shame it's too dark for decent pics!

We had sleet, then snow that settled and now it's raining. Shame the central heating's bust and my gas fire has just run out of gas. Currently heating the house with the woodburner and the oven. Thank God we have water as we didn't last night or this morning!

Well, well, well.

Was expecting it to snow yesterday and today. Yesterday had to drive down to London and it was lovely ans sunny all the way down. Although the temp plummeted overnight, there was no sign of snow or frost in the morning. However once I joined the M25 around 1800, it started snowing. The rest of the journey was fine until I hit the M40, at which point it was 40-50mph all the way. Outside lane snowed in. A 2.5 hr journey took me 4.5 hrs.

The winter tyres were awesome though. Managed to park the car in the garage despite 3 inches or so of snow on the ground.

About 4cm of snow here. Hopefully it will continue to snow all night.

Dear Britain,

I have just got back from seeing The Hamsters in concert. I drove home in an '05 Yaris on summer tyres. I had control on down-hills and was starting on inclines without any problems whatsoever. I did this by being patient and gentle with the controls and by actually reading the advice in the Highway Code. The moral of the story?

**If you slow down and stop driving like a knob, driving on snow is easy.**

Thanks

Well this snow had better bloody not delay the choppers this week!
I guess I should be thankful it started snowing on Saturday. Get it all over before Monday.

Nothing down here. It tried, half-heartedly, for about five minutes - it was little more than sleet really.

It's quite mild out there today.

was walking down the road to a friends house last night. A 4x4 was pulling out of a side road onto the main road with all 4 wheels spinning at top speed sliding all over the place.

The most stupid thing is that there was almost no snow (a bit of slush) and the road was perfectly flat and level.

I just laughed and shook my head. Some people really are clueless.

We had a few flakes here, but it has been generally too cold for it to snow. We haven't been about about -8°C this week, most days have started in double digit minus.

They are forecasting snow here for the middle of next week.

Up until Friday, when we had a couple of snow flakes try and come down, it has been so dry, that despite "ice" cold temperatures, the roads have been ice free.

This. It's amazing how people take leave of all their senses and become gibbering wrecks when there is a bit of snow.

The wife and I went into central London to a comedy show, got the tube there. On the way back it took about an hour to get to Colindale station where they terminated the train without warning. I needed to get to Burnt Oak, the next station along, as there were no buses or cabs, we walked! Took ages. Got back to the car, dug it out of the snow and drove it back to my flat and managed to get it parked in my space. Only had to take it easy and not rush it. Saw 2 cars whose drivers didn't bother with their headlights.

Big thanks to London Undergound for dumping a trainload of people somewhere with no real way of getting home. [LIFTED]!
