Some of Google's services were down earlier in case you're wondering, should be working now.

Nationwide are offering their main current account holders a regular (monthly) savings account with 5% interest.
Even after tax that's a lot better than any of their ISA's.

====================================

Dear Customer,

In the next few weeks your Kindle e-reader will receive a free, over-the-air software update. We know that readers are always looking for ways to discover their next favourite book, and this update provides new ways to help you do just that. While this update will happen automatically, it won't affect your library or the e-books on your device. Take a look at what's new!

Personalised Home Screen

Your new Home screen highlights your most recent reads, samples you've downloaded, items on your Amazon Wish List, relevant book recommendations and more.

Easily Access Popular Settings

Our readers' most-used settings— such as Aeroplane Mode and Device Sync— can now be found in the same place with just one tap on your toolbar.

Get Book Recommendations

Not sure what to read next? Choose your favourite genres and rate a few books you've already enjoyed— you'll see a list of recommended titles to help you discover more books you'll love.

Sharing Made Easy

Share your favourite book or quote with friends and family via e-mail, Facebook or Twitter. With one tap, they'll be able to instantly read a free preview of the book— right from their browser on their phone, tablet or PC— even if they've never used Kindle before. No download, sign-up or sign-in required.

French schools have been told to teach simplified spellings, so no accents on forêt , fenêtre etc. Which really is going to lose its charm

The reform has been 25 years in the making, it was voted in 1990 but only rolled out this year.
I'm really not sure muddling the Latin roots of words is going to help with spelling or learning foreign languages.

Probably more to do with how hard it can be to type accented characters on a keyboard. I know there are keys on French ones to access them quickly, but I expect it’s seen as too much effort, especially on mobile devices. The sooner the rest of the world catches up and uses English, the better. ;)
