There's good and bad from both countries. The UK does produce some very good TV.

No it's not riduclous at all. It makes perfect sense having seen the first one. Here's the reason why:

Ridiculous.
It's ridiculous for Sherlock, more ridiculous for Luther.

How is it ridiculous to say 'this is how many episodes it takes to tell the story we want to tell well, so this is how many episodes we're going to do'?
