To be fair even if it was a person if they're some unfortunate sat in some cubicle in the arse end of nowhere running to a script and with a mindset that's highly orientated towards the service industry, you might as well be talking to a computer.

Also, just a note to add. I was on the Sky website earlier and clicked on the pop-up window to "chat now" to a sales advisor person.

About 10 mins into the chat I suddenly had a very odd feeling that I was talking to a computer.

I checked through my answers and with some clever natural text parsing it would be very easy to recreate their side of the conversation.

I still don't know for certain whether it was a real person or a computer.

Chances are it was a human using a script.

I'm hoping the BBC news web site will post the piece they just played on Breakfast. I think it would make a worthy replacement for F1 on our screens.

If the link turns up later, I'll post it here.

And here we are...

Only thing it was missing were the pit girls. Though I do suspect that the quality of grid interviews will be on a par with F1. As there will be little of the "sorry we haven't got the time" excuses. The racers look more open in discussing the tactics.

The penny dropped yesterday. 2012 sees a major football tournament, and that Olympic shenanigans. The Beeb is committed to covering both those, so F1 has been sacrificed.

Very disappointing that events that happen once every four years will destroy an annual event that has superb coverage and a loyal fan base. Short of ceasing to pay my licence fee when it comes up in the new year, I don't know what I can do to make my feelings known. That sucks.

Brilliant race again and good cause for celebration for Button. First 5 laps were especially good on the slippery track, must have seen every car side on.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Great result - Button was, as ever, great in tricky conditions.

Note to Christian Horner:
See, teammates can race without crashing; providing you have two drivers you can trust enough not to be stupid.

It's not like you can find it 'elsewhere' as no doubt the current commentary team will be split up. The beeb had a great package and it will go to waste as a result.

I think the most frustrating thing for me is the fact that they're going to show some races, but not all. That seems about as pointless as chocolate bread knife. I'd much rather the beeb completely jumped ship and invested in some other car-based motorsport.

To get it in as nice a quality as you got it for a tenner a month on the BBC.

What's the tenner a month for? We have BBC HD on Freeview for no additional cost (after the initial hardware), and I presume you still need to pay a license fee with sky/virgin/whatever?

The licence fee?

But you have to pay that regardless don't you? If so wouldn't you need to add that on to the cost of the Sky subscription if you're making a comparison?
