I've noticed that my appetite has sky-rocketed over the last two weeks and I've feck all idea as to why.

EDIT: I wonder whether it's because the days are getting shorter?

Could be the instinct for mammals to increase their fat reserves before the onset of winter.

Colour me sceptical though ;)

Not tapeworm. I was alluding to the "hibernating" thing in my previous post about shorter days/longer nights.

Tonight I think we're going to open a bottle of Champagne. It's Moët Grand Vintage 2002. Apparently....

Quote:
Premium champagne label Moet & Chandon is finally releasing its 2002 cuvee after seven years of ageing.
The Grand Vintage 2002's release coincides with the launch of two collector's edition years from the winemaker, the 1975 and 1992.
Cuvees are normally released after five years of ageing, but the chef du cave of the world's biggest champagne house, Benoit Gouez, told the Drinks Business that the wine simply had to wait.
"Two years ago we could only see the fruity side of the [2002] wine, so it needed those two extra years. I wanted to wait for that toasty character to come through," he told the publication.
Sampling the Grand Vintage 2002, Decanter magazine's tastings director Christelle Guibert commented that the wine shows "beautiful development", with a complex yet well-balanced finish that has "amazing depth".

Although to me I'm sure it will taste just like sparking white wine!

It always does to me, never been a fan myself and tried all sorts.

Have a bottle of wine before hand just in case then it'll be sure to taste nice. :D

I don't even like white wine. I'm a red man myself. And even then I hardly drink that ever. It's a wedding present though so mustn't grumble.

I know a couple that don't drink. They have dozens of bottles of champaign in the cupboard which the wife gets given for Christmas. They're saving them for the daughter's wedding, but I can't help wondering if they won't be past their best. The oldest must be 30 years old at least already.

Interesting. I never knew how long it would keep for either.

http://www.champagnemagic.com/faqs.htm wrote:
In ideal cellar conditions (around 50F), some fine Champagnes will keep for twenty or thirty years or more. However, it is not as long lived as Burgundy or Bordeaux.

If you do not have the luxury of a cellar, however, the best place to store it is somewhere in the dark that has a constant temperature, as cool as possible. Then your timescale for keeping is very limited. The Champenois say that you should not keep Champagne for longer that it was cellared originally, so that means from two years for a non-vintage, and from three years for a vintage. You may be lucky and not suffer from deterioration if you keep your Champagne outside a cellar for longer periods, but frankly, the better houses' Champagnes are well aged when you buy them, so why not drink up straight away?

You sure you've not been drinking and just keep setting fire to your eyelashes? :D

Nope, in the words of Ms Faith, I am stone cold sober; and free from burns. :D

Because I forgot to post in TFPOTD thread:

Morning all!

The sunshine has returned in Brisbane today, although it's still fairly windy. I've got a fairly busy weekend planned; I'm having some scans on my wrist and shin, the wrist is as a result of a car accident earlier in the year and they still don't know what the problem is. The shin though, is a strange one, the pedal swung round and hit it when I was riding my pushbike a couple of weeks ago and it's been getting gradually worse to the point where it now hurts to walk; the only way I can describe it is like bashing my shin on the coffee table every time I take a step. (If any of you medically knowledgable people want to take a guess feel free! Hopefully I'll know about the leg on Monday, I'm waiting for another specialist appointment on the wrist)

Tonight I'm off to watch some boxing and support a fighter from a local gym, I haven't seen any live fighting in ages, so I'm looking forward to that.

Tomorrow I'm off to Queensland Raceway with a mate where we'll be taking part in a drift afternoon and will get to drive some fast cars around and around :D

That should leave me just enough time to watch the football on Saturday night, do some washing and cleaning on Sunday and before I know it, it'll be Monday again!

So there you go, that's me for the weekend :) Enjoy yours 8-)
