Just finished Bear Grylls's autobiography 'Mud, Sweat and Tears.' I enjoyed it; the chapters dealing with the rigorous SAS selection procedures and the scaling of Everest are very good.

Now perusing 'Industrial Light and Magic - The art of special effects,' by Thomas Smith. It's a look at the first 10 years of ILM, long before everything turned to CGI.

Must see if that Stan Winston book has gotten any cheaper...

I got the ILM book for £3 in a charity shop. A little bit damaged....looks like someone spilled some water onto the book.... but still great value. Some really good behind the scenes pics I might upload.

I'm reading a shedload of Chomsky and Pilger at the moment.

I highly recommend Paul Krugman's book "End This Depression Now!"

I'm currently reading Nele Neuhaus's Pia Kirchhof and Oliver Bodenstein detective novels, they are great.

I've hardly read a book since I left school, despite reading hundreds very avidly when I was young.

However, I've just added "Ender's Game" to my list... although there's a film coming up so I may wait for the DVD

I'm trying to pick up where I left off with Philip Pullman's The Shadow in the North, but I don't know if I can be bothered. :|

Awful, but popular. Like JK Rowling or Eastenders.

As mentioned in another thread, the Darksiders book is awesome. Have any of you read any Ari Marmell books? He's done a lot of D+D-type books which aren't normally my thing, but his writing style really works for me if Darksiders is anything to go by. Time to see if there's any Amazon samples 8-)

He's going to be at Waterstones Leadenhall Market on 4th Sept and a couple of other dates around UK and Ireland
