Oh they are - or at least all the ones here in The Bay are.

On that theme, all Nissan Micra drivers must only be allowed to drive when nobody else is on the road. They're all lethal.

Got overtaken by a Corsa on my way home (driving on at least an inch of ice/compacted snow) doing 60 easily while everyone else was doing 30ish on the dual carriageway (hadn't even ploughed the road, only saw 1 gritter the whole journey) What did I see another half mile down the road.... the same Corsa.... stuck in a drift in the outside lane facing the wrong way I would have helped, but drive like a d*ck and I'm not helping them, they were a liability in any other way than a stationary position And I think I may need snow tyres at some stage.... barely made it up the hill tonight, then spent an hour digging a spot in the snow, probably not even going to try to drive tomorrow as the roads are a nightmare for a fairly high powered vehicle with no traction control and low torque

Yeah, highly amusing. As for Scoobys, I take it we're talking Imprezas, rather than Forresters or a Legacy Wagon (both of which are usually driven by either old men, or Coloradans, or both)? Pretty much everybody down here is being a dick. Slow the [LIFTED] down, it's -1 FFS! I'm not using my car again until the big thaw on Friday. Not worth the risk with so many tools about.

Yup. Prezzas. Wasn't impressed at being forced to slam on the anchors cos matey wouldn't yield and let me in. The roads in the Bay aren't bad, to be honest. But of course, everyone's tyres are cold. It certainly not taking much to spin up the rears, so of course the braking distances are also affected. Unless you're in a Scooby. Cos of the 4x4 y'see. They're proper rally cars, y'know.

Which is why 90% of the cars I see are in full race livery and driven by Ken Block wannabies that will end up either in a ditch or in the back of another car

Timark disagrees cos he lives in NI and therefore all imprezas are either underwater or burnt alive by joyriders thus not causing any danger on the road there

This is what is pissing me off. The roads down here have been a mixed bag, but I've been on the dry ones coz I'm running 180ps through Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas with about 2mm left and a very light engine block! Doesn't take much for me to spin up in the slight damp in August in 2nd or 3rd - nevermind now. Nobody understands about braking distances and general performance degradation on summer tyres. They just think it's dry, so they can drive normally. It's flat out dangerous. I can't afford winter tyres and the snow is too patchy for an Autosock (which btw looks fracking awesome for those of you caked in snow). So I just take it really, really easy wherever I go. It's just not worth the risk. Except of course, at Davidstow airfield, where some friends and I took various Quattros and tore up the runway
