Man from nPower just turned up to change the electric meter for the entire site. All the managers knew 6 weeks ago.

Nobody told me so I've just had to takedown a load of servers with few guarantees that they'll come back up cleanly.

Don't you have such things as change requests?

Yep - for all the good they serve.

Anyhoo - everything back up totally clean except one intranet server.

I'm going to have to stop buying things off the net for a while - I'm on a right fcuking losing streak at the moment.

Yet another badly made t-shirt. A book that was returned destroyed to the seller by Royal Mail. Fake NERF darts. Oh, and a badly painted Alien figure.

WTF?

Smoke alarm started beeping last night. Not the normal "OMG there's a fire get OUT!" beep. A beep-beep-beep every 60 seconds. No red flashing light to indicate it had been triggered. Probably a low battery warning. Woke us all up at 4am. Haven't managed to get back to sleep since.

I think somebody should maybe mention to the BBC News department that something approaching 90% of their viewers could not give a flying one about the tube strike.

But it's in London and therefore the most important thing in the universe.

It could only get better if a member of the royal family was involved somehow, or it affected the Grating British Bog Off.

Cakes, meh.

Now, The Great British Steak Off might grab my attention!

Although you'd still have to get rid of the old biddy and that bearded preening tw@t.
