I can understand not having a snow shovel but not having a thermos?

I'm just not into hot drinks. I normally drink just water (maybe with ribena or orange squash). Sometimes I'll have a caffeinated soft drink. I reserve red bull for those days that I need it.
The last time I had a thermos was in secondary school when we went on a week's field trip.
Last winter wasn't bad so I didn't bother and although it snowed on the previous two, I was in walking distance of work.

Though if your car is cold then your bottle of water would freeze as well. At least inside a thermos, water would stay liquid even if the car inside was freezing.

Well the plan was to have two thermos - for water and for soup.

That sounds like a good plan. Good luck with that. I hope you do not need to test it.

It snowed fairly consistently overnight, but once I got out of the village the roads were pretty much fine. The road through the village was very slippery and snow-covered, snow laying on top of ice, but the nearest B road was alright and all the roads through Nottingam were fine. More snow and in higher concentration than we've had so far are due today, let's see how the weekend goes.

Nothing here. Very disappointed. Updates on the BBC say that snow is falling in Richmond so the snowfall just needs to progress eastwards.
Update: Well it has started but it's that thin, insubstantial snow not the big flakes I was hoping for. Still, fingers crossed.

Lots here and still coming down - work phoned me this morning to tell me not to come in. Result! Although, if they had phoned 30 minutes earlier, I could have stayed in bed.
Just spent a half hour clearing next doors' pathway - it's actually quite nice out there.

It is starting to fall quite heavily in central London. Monitoring and if it gets too bad, I'll grab the train out of euston early

Several snow flurries, but the main snow is supposed to be south of us. One of our customers, about an hour and a half south, said they had 7cm of snow overnight.

In the end the NW had what you'd describe as 'a covering' - enough so you can't see the pavements any more but not really enough to give you a problem unless you're infirm on your feet anyway. Gritters had been out and driving was no problem. In fact I got into work in half the time it usually takes apparently because a load of people obviously decided there was enough snow to 'work from home' on a Friday . I was driving along the motorway at *cough* MPH and the fine snow I'd not cleared off the car was flying off in a stream behind me. I must have looked like a comet. A big dirty snowball with a tail behind... 'Dirty snowball' isn't a euphemism for some dodgy sexual practice is it ?

It's been continuously snowing since about 8am at my workplace. There was an inch of snow on the ground when I came in this morning. It's now two inches. If it continues at this rate, we may have to shut the practice early so we can all get home safely. A lot of patients have already cancelled because of the weather.

Three or four inches here and it's drifting as we're on top of a hill. Not even attempted to go out although I have a 4wd with snow tyres and auto socks, I don't see the point in using them unless I need to. Not a single car has driven past, so I suspect the road is impassable.
