Oh, well, you can't have everything, at least Alonso got stuck back in the pack but I didn't really want Vettel to win either! A shame for Webber, he seemed like a broken man speaking after the race - hopefully, this won't be his only chance to win the Championship, cos I actually quite like the guy. He's had a lot of bad luck over the years, and if a Briton couldn't win then I'd have loved him to clinch it. Laughed at Vettel blubbing like a big girl over the radio! All in all, a great season... I'm already getting withdrawal symptoms now it's over.

Just watching the post race show now.
WTF was Alonso doing shaking his fist at Petrov?! What a c*ck!
I guess he was expecting someone to come on the radio to tell him to let Alonso past... like when he couldn't get past Massa in Turkey.

Yeah, I though Petrov has a good race, he held his nerve and managed to keep Alonso behind him for the place. One down side however, can’t see Petrov being offered a Ferrari seat in the near future.... All in all a good season, looking forward to next year with the return of KERS and a new adjustable rear wing system. Roll n March 2011.

Petrov did bloody well to keep Alonso behind him; earning my undying gratitude in the process. Trulli stole a march on everyone, looks like his rear wing was VERY adjustable. They might have to tweak it a little though.

Roll on next year and hopefully some more overtaking!
It was a good season with lots of ups and downs but the action was almost never due to overtaking.
I'd like to see some more wheel to wheel action next year.
Here's hoping.

Kobayashi, Kubica and Hamilton beg to differ. I could add Sutil to that too, but he mainly attempted and failed. I ought to include Button too, for his efforts in the first half of the season. I'd like to see more wheel to wheel stuff myself. However, saying that the action was almost never due to overtaking is stretching it a bit, in my opinion. The truth is, today's cars are far too fragile to survive wheel to wheel tangles, so the trend has been moving away from that and more emphasis has been put on timing your stops to avoid traffic and build a margin. For goodness sake, we now have a WDC who has hardly ever pulled off a competitive overtake on the track. It's a shame the sport has moved away from wheel to wheel battles, but I believe it lets us appreciate the courage and commitment of the above drivers when they do pull off a move.

Push to PassI think something like this would be good for F1. The problem with the adjustable wings and KERS is that everyone gets it all the time. It's been put in place to help overtaking but it isn't going to work as everyone will use it on the straights. And as soon as everyone uses it on the straights it may as well not be there. It's also very hard to display to the people watching when people are using the advantage of changing the wings. With Push to Pass (especially with a 60 second limit) it is a more tactical tool as you can't just blast it on every straight. It is also very easy to display to the public how much each driver has left and when they are using it.

I'm a bit torn of KERS/Push to pass in general. I agree that setting limits, so it has to be used tactically, is a good idea. I'm just a little concerned that it will largely be used early on in the race and for in and out laps for pitstops. Barrichello made a comment, about the increasing number of controls/buttons on the steering wheel, and said it is becoming more and more difficult/confusing for the drivers. He has a good point, the wheel is looking more like a keyboard every year. Add in controls for KERS and rear wing adjustments and you're getting into the realms of drivers losing a position because they forgot to press a button. Not exactly rock n roll, is it?

KERS is limited per lap to X amount (10 seconds I think last year), so once it's gone it's gone until you pass the s/f line.
The new idea of rear wing adjustment is restricted to pursuit car only.... but not sure how their going to monitor that one if you get a whole bunch of cars together

With the KERS though, it is limited to 6 seconds per lap (or it was last year) but everyone saved it for the straights meaning that no one could pass still. I didn't know about the trailing car rule for the adjustable rear wing (you have to be trailing by less than 1 second). The rule also states that it can't be adjusted in the first 2 laps of the race. I'm not sure about the adjustabe wing rule though. They struggle to get within one second and it's once they are past the one second mark that the slipstream kicks in. They're still not going to be able to get into the 1 second mark though?!

I think Martin Brundle mentioned it on Sunday that Barachello made a good point about F1 cars already having too many buttons and gizmos to keep an eye on in the car, that's without the reintroduction of KERS and adjustable rear wings. Though, I suspect as Barachello is one of the old guard, this is perhaps where next year the younger drivers will cope better... the PlayStation Generation!

This article made interesting reading: http://www.autocar.co.uk/blogs/stillatt ... an-f1.aspxMaybe F1 is going the wrong way - maybe they should be removing things rather than adding bits here and there. Driver skill seems to be taking a back seat to the car designer/engineer/aerodynamicist. Or maybe they should just fit all tracks with random sprinklers
