I'm sorry but professional athletes should be more than fit enough not to suffer the effects of altitude, especially when many of them played at near sea level. And as for the knock-out stages improving things, frankly I'm sceptical that it will make one jot of difference.

Well today's match is already good IMO. I think Uruguay have been probably the most consistent team in the tournament so far.

No disrespect but I really don't mind if you aren't enthralled. To me, it's been a pretty decent WC so far and it's likely to get much better as we get to the later stages. And the games are on at a reasonable time, not in the middle of the night. I'm enjoying it immensely.

I'm enjoying too, especially as all 4 of my pre-tournament tips are still in it, 1 now in the QF. 1 will leave (Argentina v Mexico) but that's ok. German coach is bottling it, he refused to turn up to the prematch media huddle.

Actually, I'm enjoying it even more now.
I've seen 2 of the best goals of the tournament today, Uruguay's 2nd and a great one by Boeteng to see Ghana take the lead.
Not nice to then see the US try and dismember him out of frustration.

USA are at least used to having to get back into games. They don't really look up to it so far though.

I didn't get to see the game earlier, but this USA vs Ghana game is pretty entertaining - and the USA have started the second half well with a great chance.

USA back in it. 20 minutes to extra time. I wonder if ITV have planned for that

Ghana, Ghana, Ghana... [/chant] Let's see the American press try and spin this into a win.
