Well, not really. It is more common than it was, but it's still actually pretty rare. If infertility was actually common, we'd be pretty buggered as a species. what there is is this odd expectation that once you decide you want to have a baby, pregnancy should follow almost immediately. Therefore the fact it doesn't is labelled as 'infertility'.

My condition ( PCOS) affects up to 10% of women.

Obviously it does not mean that all suffer from infertility but it's very badly known, research just about found a possible cause for it, and there's no treatment available.

The cynical part of me thinks that if it affected men, they'd be a treatment, and GPs would give a [LIFTED]

The stats for diagnosis and treatment of predominantly male-only cancers, compared to breast & ovarian cancer, suggest otherwise. The bare fact is the treatment of all conditions is very uneven, research funding is often controlled by vested interests or 'fashion' and therefore what we have effective treatments for follows next to no predictable pattern at all.

Female GPs should care / know more about female problems?
Incidentally I was diagnosed by a male GP. Sadly he said " can't do anything for you".
There's a lack of training I think, and that's no the GPs fault.

The point is surely female GPs would be less likely to show any preference towards treating male problems.

Quite so. Any differential in detection and treatment in gender-primary conditions is almost certainly not due to overt bias on the part of GPs.

I don't think GPs are biased, I say that they cannot detect and treat conditions that are not well known and with no established treatment.

And when a condition affects 5% of UK population, you'd think that it be more well known.

Backache! Gah! Went to the doctor's on Monday, but mine is on Christmas holiday. I wanted to talk to him about my back problems, but I had to make do with his locum, who just prescribed me Tramadol.

Doesn't do a darned thing! Pain is the same / worse as not taking it, so I'll stop. Can't see the point of pumping my body full of drugs if they don't actually do anything. I just wanted something so that I can sleep longer - currently getting 4 - 5 hours, if I am lucky.

I think you'll find it's pretty select group of people who have something different - Moderators, the site owner, the site owners now wife.
I mean, if you want to have a go at romancing Saspro to get your post count thing changed that's entirely up to you but I suspect you won't have much sucess

In the absence of physical intervention eg physio, steroid injections, epidurals, surgery, pain relief will be the best option. There are a group of people for whom things like codeine and tramadol don't work.

I seem to be in that categorie. Ibuprofen, diclofenac and codeine don't usually do anything to relieve pain, I guess I can now add tramadol to the list.

I had a car accident when I was 19 and 3 vertebrae are fused together and there is a nerve trapped in there as well. Most of the time it is fine, but every now and then I get intense pain and short of an injection, nothing works. Last time I got a "normal" injection, I then went back the next day, because it hadn't even dented the pain. I then got another painkiller and steroid mix; that helped.

I'm going to try and get an appointment with a specialist in the new year and get them to look at it again. I'm also have problems with my mid and upper spine now, but they aren't as bad, although they are constantly cracking and popping out of position and back in again.
