We moved over to using different colours for different purposes... Although that went out the windows when we threw out our old phone system and moved to a VOIP system with soft-clients running on the PCs. We only have 4 physical telephones now.

We use Swyx, although I did look at using Skype for Business, but the directors wanted to stay with Telekom, so we ended up with their Netphone badged version of Swyx.
We use Jabra DECT headsets attached to the PCs (DECT is better than bluetooth in an office environment). A couple of critical positions have physical telephones, which are connected to a mediant, so that if the VOIP server goes offline, we are still reachable, although Telekom are phasing out ISDN, so we will have to move to a pure IP solution (with IP-Trunking instead of ISDN-Trunking) next year - the Swyx / Netphone solution is IP-Trunking ready, Telekom just needs to physically switch from ISDN to IP.
We have had it for a year now, running on a primary server with a hot-standby. So far, apart from planned downtime to install updates (we upgraded to 2015R3 this morning), we haven't had any downtime. We now also provide single call routing for two sites and the sites are purely VOIP over VPN, so we don't tie up any external lines any more, when we are talking to colleagues in the other building.
Although a colleague saw an even better looking system at CeBit this week, but I can't remember the name he mentioned.

We had lync only in my old office, call outs and internal were fine but call ins we would constantly miss as computers wouldn't ring.

Just saw a headline for a BvS article worded in such a way that you'd need to be utterly ignorant of the character not to know what then happens in the film. And we're talking a major thing for that character. They then put '(Spoilers)' after the headline. Well fcuking done... Is there such a thing as a slow handclap smilie?
Morons.

Our main clinical system is down. It's one of those bits of software that "phones home" and if it can't connect, it stops working. Or even loading up in this case. The back up system also doesn't work. Might have to resort to paper notes.

My boss thinks I'm not only going to take personal responsibility for the security of our entire building's staff (door buzzer), but that I'll also be fire warden!
If he wants to double my pay or something then I'll consider it. I'll be having a chat tomorrow. I've been through this sort of BS before where managers try and delegate their responsibility for the staff's security and safety to the staff, and it didn't work then.

I don't know what the rules are in the UK, but here the health and safety representative role cannot be performed by a member of management - the role is also protected, because they have to tell management directly of any infringements and see to it that they are rectified, so they cannot be fired in the usual way (to stop management firing every representative that takes the role seriously). The same goes for data protection representative (one of my roles).

Some people are utterly sh1t at April Fools Day Marvel And Netflix Announce 'She-Hulk', 'Cloak & Dagger', 'Bullseye', and 'Elektra' Series To Follow 'The Defenders'! http://sciencefiction.com/2016/04/01/ma ... defenders/First of all it needs to be subtle. Secondly, you've totally failed if the vast majority of your audience thinks, 'I'd actually like to see those shows, d1ckheads!'
