Ok so reporting is a necessary evil and I know given 1/2 a chance I wouldn't do any BUT I will now have to re-do my reports because they have decided that they want to change the shade of blue that the font is in and cant send the reports out without it
So that's the day shot
and what's really funny is on Friday we had an e-mail ff the CEO saying how "We must all work smarter & not harder in order to get more done...blar...blar...blar"

I don't want to sound pedantic*, but it should be blah, not blar, so if you could re-do that post it would be appreciated. Thanks. * Who am I kidding? I am Captain Pedantic!

So, after two weeks my boss has finally gotten back to me saying he still wants me to do the security bit, and That he's had a word with the premises officer (he doesn't say what about, could have been the Grand National). That would also be the same premises officer who told me building security wasn't my concern or role. He also says he'll take primary responsibility for any action I take, which is good, considering it involves CCTV that I'm not licensed for and granting electronic door access. Which I'm also not licensed to give. That he can't see any reason why a clerk (can't give away my job here ) shouldn't take on these jobs. Yeah. Apart from the above points, we've already had a security breach in the last year that came up every weekly meeting for months afterwards. That I'll be expected to do all this to minimise disruption to other staff. That one's especially good considering he's already told me there's staff members he doesn't trust to do it. So I've contacted HR... If they mess me about, I'll have to sign up to the union. All because he wants a dogsbody to make his life easier in the short term.

Don't you just love plastic wing nut type things. Like ones used to attach the seat to the toilet in my bathroom where the wings sheared off as soon as any force was applied Still, a bit of hacksaw action later and I now have a new non-wobbly toilet seat.

Management are actually denying it's a security role and asking 'what if we turn the CCTV screens off?'. I'm still waiting for HR to get back to me, but management allege I'd need a medical certificate to turn them down!

Have you got any of the thing he's saying he'll take responsibility for in writing? If they won't write it down they can [LIFTED] off (which it sounds like they should do anyway). Signed up for the union yet?

He's said he'll take responsibility in an email, but I've no reason to trust him as he's hidden misconduct that should have seen another boss reprimanded. And I've been to the top of HR with issues before, alleging serious misconduct and they just stared at the table or outright said they wouldn't be discussing the matter... Just yesterday my boss wanted to know why I contacted HR in this case, as if I didn't have any right to! He even wanted to know who I spoke to over there. It's incredulous. It's gotten to the point where I've made an appointment with occupational wellbeing.

I was told yesterday afternoon that I wouldn't be required to do 'the security role that wasn't a security role'. Funnily enough, this happened after I'd sent HR an email saying
I suspected management had been talking to HR inappropriately
That management were still denying it was a security role even when telling me to turn the CCTV off and not worry about people tailgating
That after the above I had absolutely no reason to trust management would cover me in the event of a breach
This morning I got called into a meeting with our overall site boss and he was STILL insisting it wasn't a security issue, even though he's now spoken to the premises officer and installed another staff member in the hot seat. I wouldn't have been viewing the CCTV screen 'as such', and other BS.
I also now have to tell occupational wellbeing it wasn't a security issue so that there's no misunderstanding, apparently! He can go fcuk himself, I'll be telling them the truth. Oh, and clearly him and my line manager had a chat about how bad it was looking - my line manager said any issues in future I was to make it clear to other staff that it was an issue I had with a role, and that I wasn't just refusing it. Apparently I'm PR for the fcukers now.

Fail or Rant - could be either
So off down to Gatwick to install kit. Was promised BT had installed the lines. Arrive to find only 2 or the 3 lines installed. OK can still do 2/3rd of the job only to find BT have indeed installed the lines but put a block on them so they cant be used.
After 4 hrs on the phone finally advised that to the get the (incorrectly fitted) block off the line will require a new order and take a week to do
Naturally the Boss wants to know why the job instant complete and for some reason its my fault

So we've got big networked copiers for printing. Some inconsiderate sod has sent a job that used all the paper in the machine but didn't complete as there was still stuff to print. So, instead of opening the pack of paper RIGHT NEXT TO THE PRINTER, they picked up their completed copies and walked off leaving it with a 'load paper' screen and thereby blocking everyone else's jobs. Ah the joys of trying to resource a printer shared between three different departments with no real defined rota of who has to buy the paper this time.

This makes sense... Various colleagues are stressing out because they're *SOOO* busy on projects, that they've hired a temp to help me on the service desk.
This means that I have to spend the next few weeks training him on our housing management systems.
Let's not worry about the fact that I also have a project, which I'm meant to be working on.
No, that's fine. Really.
I actually enjoy being treated differently to literally every other member of the IT department.

What is it with mobile phones that when you need a there and then answer no fcuker ever picks up or notices they have a message?

Mine sits on the kitchen worktop when I'm at home and it sits in its case on my desk at work. It happens quite often, that I'll be out and about in the office and not hear it ring, and I'll check it at lunch time and see that I missed a call or there is a message...

Look, if you can't park your 4x4, why don't you consider buying a smaller [LIFTED] car?!
