My personal bugbear is parking ticket machines locally that charge 80p, or £1.30 or something, and don't give change.

I got on the bus today and I noticed, to my great surprise, that they accept euros! :o

Not as crazy as it sounds though I suppose, we are a tourist town. *shrug*

Seems your town is in another universe compared to Reading. In Reading they don't even give you the change back. You either give exact amount or they keep everything you gave them. So if you are desperate you might end up paying £5 for £1.70 fare.

Welcome to Reading, the place where in 21st century you won't get the change back for bus fare and they've never heard of smart cards

I was shocked when I went to Birmingham and they did the same thing...
I was more surprised that a CITY with all it's horrid concrete and glass would have gotten around to fitting some sort of card reader so I could pay via debit card...I hardly carry change on me...

As long as I can use it, and it doesn't screw me over, I couldn't really care less.

How about the Swiss Franc, it does have the most stylish notes (rubbish coins though).
