Thanks guys. Still spinning out a little tbh. Mega excited, but got loads to sort out like what to do with my car, what to take/not take, and crucially what mp3 player/phone, camera and other stuff do I need to buy to take with me!

Congratulations on the job. :D

Regarding what stuff you need to take with you, to begin with I would suggest NOT taking anything that's worth nicking... Don't take an iPod/iPhone, (get a cheap but reliable MP3/4 player and a STURDY mobile) and maybe a cheap comapct camera. Obviously this all depends on where you are going to be based, but I'd hate for the exitement of your new job to be dulled by having your stuff nicked in the first week.

I'm wondering if it's worth finding somewhere you could keep the car for a couple of months... just in case the job doesn't turn out to be as good as we all hope it will be?

There is always the option of insurance. Check if your kit will be covered where you go. Then no need to worry so much. As for the car if you take it off the road you can get a road fund license refund and drop the insurance to a minimal amount so it will be there waiting for you when you get back.

Thanks guys. Had my second interview to determine which resort I'll end up in and should find out by the end of the month. Can't wait to get the hell out of here!

Great, you find out your new employment just as I end my current one.
Forum checks and balances.

How long are you away - a few months and then back to the UK or for longer
For he car either SORN it or sell it and buy another when you get back

For the other stuff - Phone - get one locally (or an unlocked one) as you will want a local SIM
Dont forget Power 240V v110V and different pin arrangements

You could invest in a set of travel adaptors. I would agree on getting a local SIM. It will be a lot cheaper for you to make calls locally. So either check that your phone is unlocked or get one locally.
