this thread is meant to be about people picking things up

And there was I thinking it was about online dating... which is about meeting people online, not "picking things up" and by the way, how many women do you know who wouldn't object to being called things? ;) :etc:

Not at all... sometimes two people meet and they "just click". I know this through personal experience, as it happened to me almost 11 years ago.

Yep, that's a pretty good description, we're constantly surprised by just how perfect we are for each other and have recently started doing the "ESP" thing which is slightly weirding us out :D

And now I have a mental image of the two of you sat at home in the evening with a bottle of wine and a deck of cards... "What card am I looking at?" "Two of Hearts" "WTF" "OMG" "LOL" etc...

Sorry, I'll get my coat. Did you know I was going to say that?

I had a friend like that. We clicked from the first time we met at uni. We loved all the same things, books, films, music, etc...

We got to the ESP thing too. Making identical remarks about things at exactly the same time. This still happens whenever I see her.

Whilst I knew her though she was always going out with someone.

Then she went travelling and came back engaged to a guy she had known from home :(

She's married now and living in Jordan.

Mostly it's piddly little things, like I'll be about to ask if he wants a cuppa just as he puts the kettle on, or we'll both buy the exact same thing for dinner because we fancied it. Sometimes it's bigger things though, like him knowing when I'm ill before I've texted him, or me knowing that he's got a headache before he mentions it.

I suspect it could just be because we can read each other very well or have similar tastes, but sometimes there seems to be no connection and it gives us pause!

you can get that with people you're good friends with too not just people you love ;)

Absolutely, I have a couple of friends like that. It just helps reinforce things when it's with someone you love "more than friends"

I've known a few people who have met partners over the internet, I don't understand the stigma since I know some people who are much happier communicating honestly via a faceless screen, my fella is one of them and I reckon we got to know each other far better chatting on t'internet before we ever met face-to-face.

This. My wife and I spent about 3 weeks emailing and texting before we met. Though the main reason was that I was away for that time for work. I think it helped.
