I'd suggest spending a whole day queueing in the street to pay 500 quid for a gadget is probably a good way of getting away from your girlfriend permanently.... Jon

The atmosphere? Why go to a football game when you can watch it a few hours later on one of the many catch-up channels?

I hate shopping and one of the reasons is queues. Hence if a queue looks too long, I will (and have) simply leave my basket and bugger off. (Or more likely, I'll have spotted how busy it is as soon as I walk in and hence walk straight back out).

No point queueing now. They have sold out completely in the UK, within 24 hours. http://macdailynews.com/2011/03/28/appl ... worldwide/

So, for those that really wanted to queue, a friend off the British Mac forum has posted a video from the Norwich Store. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oY4b50ajTcNow aren't you sorry you missed it?

I'd queue for the latest nVidia product if one of their PR girls did that

You've got to admit, nobody does a high street launch quite like Apple... It's impressive. *Edit - I wonder if anyone in that queue was just looking for a spot of support for their iPhone.

A bad day to book an appointment at the Genius bar.

I doubt Apple Stores were taking bookings for Genius Bar on a product launch day.

Why? On one level, yes, it's a shame that people are worked up to such a degree by what is merely a new gadget. And of course, wise old coves like ourselves would never fall for such chicanery. On the other hand, it's nice that people are being excited by something. I could quite happily live in a world where people don't bother to queue for things (and they were camping in tents for tickets to Daniel O'Donnell in Plymouth), but I'm glad that I don't. Whilst I'm not about to go and queue like that for something (unless the tsunami's hit us, and it's bread and water time), I'm glad that people do. I also can't imagine, say, Burger King launching a new burger to quite the same response.
