An SNP spokesperson was just saying an Independent Scotland would keep Sterling as it's the UK Bank. Interesting.
He didn't seem to have any answer as to how that would be credible for an independent Nation to have its Interest Rates and Borrowing set by a competing Nation.
Farcical.

A colleague just pointed out that if Scotland goes independent, England will be stuck with a Tory government forever and ever and ever... As good an argument as any to keep them in the union if you ask me.

Actually on Question Time last week it was pointed out that only 1 labour goverment for a long time (possibly since the war but cant rememebvr what date David Dimbleby said) had relied on Scottish MP's to give them a majority. It had meant that the Majority was in double figures and not just by 1 or 2 but they still got in without the scottish MP's

Depends on your point of view. For me it's a good reason for them to get independence. Labour couldn't balance the books even when the economoy was doing well. (Except their first two years where they stuck to Tory spending limits).

Labour would still have won power in 1997, 2001 & 2005, just with a smaller majority.

Besides, it's not like at the moment there's a whole lot of difference.
