How about leaving it as it as! And all three of tapatalk users will have to just put up with. I don't see a reason why we should downgrade experience for desktop users just because somebody's screen on the phone is too small or whatever...

Can't say I even have an issue with the current options on Tapatalk. It still works fine.

As one of the tapatalk users I do not mind. I only used the recent threads option anyway.

I like the idea of this one, maybe for a different forum though

I think I would support getting rid of the overall categories, if possible, then having something like this: - The Meeting Place
- In The News
- Article Discussion
- Classifieds
- Computer Support (Software & Hardware) - Includes Windows, OS X, Linux, Desktops, Laptops
- Networking Support
- Mobile Computing Support (Phones/tablets)
- Programming
- Hi-Fi & AV
- Photography
- Gaming
Broadly, if categories must be used, the first four would be in "General", the following three would be in "Support", the final four would be in "Interests". The support forums would be for support only, with "In the News" or an 'Interest' forum being the place for discussions about products. At the moment an amount of discussion about new Macs and the like are often split between the Mac forum and "In The News" and I think the latter is a better place for it (as ever, if you don't like it, don't look at it). Looking at the separate Mac/PC, Hardware/Software boards, there really isn't that much traffic through them to justify splitting them up IMO, there have also been numerous occasions where I've had more general computing questions (e.g. my latest question about VGA cable length) so I think merging them all in to one makes sense. EDIT: Can we also have a coffee filter doodad in the programming board? Also, I think the fridge has become b*ggered, the milk smells off...

Merging the computer threads does make sense as we do not seem to have the flame wars that existed in the other place. I think that we are more grown up than that. Also as you said many queries are pretty general, and it might open up the readership of those threads. As a mac user I generally do not enter PC related threads but could help out on a generalised thread.

It's a shame you don't work in the Windows department at Microsoft.

I vote to split the forums up into sub forums. One for Mac, one for PC, one for Programming, one for Networking, one for Linux. Each one can then have its own Meeting Place and everything. Definitely sounds like a good idea to me...

So it appears the majority voted for a change. Should we now have a vote on which change?

I am not worried by a vote, let our benevolent overlords decide. Though something that is simpler to be set up would make managing the forums easier makes sense. Let our overlords decide which options to present.
