Tesco tiger is much nicer than sainsburys - in my opinion anyway.

There's once in our bread bin that's not been touch much. Tastes like some numpty used sugar instead of salt on the crust.

I likes me tiger.

Can some explain to this expat what a tiger is ,I have visions of something weird.   ;)

It's a loaf that's been brushed with sesame oil before backing on a flat tray, so it has a tasty nutty crust.

Apparently the pattern is made with rice. Well, you learn something every day

Home made all the way. The Wench makes a fair proportion of our bread here. It's tastier, more filling and also stays hot much longer when toasted than pretty much any other bread we've had. Wins by a country mile in my book.

I was eating it from Tesco in 2003 I think, 2004 at the lastest.

Tiger is probably my fav, followed by wholemeal/granary.

Has anyone tried the 'fresh for seven days' loaves? They are minging!

I've tried baking my own, but it always ends up tasting like a cross between bread and cake, and the kids won't touch it.

Hmm, looks more like a jaguar than a tiger to me.

That's usually the wrong kind of flour. You can't use normal plain flour because it will come out more like cake. Alternatively, it might be a lack of kneading. You really do have to beat the living carp out of it if you want the best texture. It's all about the gluton. Strong bread flour has loads, and you need to knead to stretch it out.

Although I did read about a recipe for an un-kneaded bread which you left over night to rise. I've been meaning to check that out, but I keep forgetting.

Yeah I thought it was the wrong kind of flour so, on my last attempt, I bought some stuff labelled as bread flour. Same end result. I just suck at breadmaking.

I will try kneading it more, next time.

Bought a mixed bag of corn rolls this morning - 5 cheesy, 2 Weltmeister, 1 Dinkel, 2 Pumpkin seed. 2.28€ the girls got through them in a couple of minutes!

Good fresh yeast and a knead/rise/knead/rise/knead should see you right.

There's a fine line between free speech and boring everyone rigid.

(It wasn't me, by the way.)

Well, it was a joke and some did find it funny. Doesn't matter as I expected that but I still would like to know who it was.
There is no need to discuss this any further as long as I know who it was. If you are brave enough to delete posts own up to it.
