Perhaps you could learn to improve your photography as there are some very good iPhone photos out there. :P

The camera on the 3gs is quite good, but gives you no control over the shot other than what you are pointing at. Some sort of aperture control would be a nice touch.

You have? What are you doing differently from all of the other Windows users? I though it was actually easier to do this on a PC than on a Mac. :?

My bad, I have just checked and this is only easy if you have Photoshop Elements. :(

Though of course at a pinch you can Email the photos to your computer. :|

Just upgraded to the HTC HD2, should arrive Tues, played around on my friends one, and it's really a great phone. The thing that stopped me from getting an iPhone was that it seems that everyone and their cat has one now. Granted they're great phones, but I guess that lack of multitasking kind of put a dampener on me getting one...

This may seem like an unimportant point for a phone thread, but I've noticed that my iPhone seems to have worse reception in my house than the Nokia 3109 that it replaced.

Is that because it will try to use 3G first? Your last phone was EDGE only. Try turning off 3G in the house.

Not true. It has selective focus as well as selective light metering.

Well I'm tempted to get either the iPhone 3GS or the HTC HD2 but not sure which one.

MUST be able to link to mail exchange so can send/receive works emails.

Will be used for browsing web also but no idea who offers best tarrif for that - O2, Orange - all sooo confusing.

Anyone point me in right direction?

IF you go for the iPhone the tarrifs are much of a muchness. IF you have decent coverage from both networks then O2 would be my choice for the iPhone as they have enabled visual voicemail and Orange have not as yet.

So I think your choice (all other things being equal) comes down to iPhone on O2 or HTC on whoever does it cheapest.

p.s.

What OS does the HTC use?

The Orange iphone tariff has a 750MB fair usage policy....the O2 one does not.

Just thought I'd throw that in there...

I can connect my camera and it will come up in Windows. The iPhone won't. Or sometimes it'll say "camera connected" but there are no pictures. Lots of googling have not revealed an answer yet.

Tap the trash can icon to delete

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. I can delete photos I have taken using the iPhone but I cannot delete ones that are in folders/albums.

This at least is true, but you can play music from your iPod, and as I said earlier if you want to jailbreak to get those missing features it is very easy to do.

True but I often hear songs or get reminded of songs when I'm out and about. I would like to listen to them there and then rather than having to download them.

In terms of ease of use, my SE K800i was far superior.

It may have suited your needs better but I think you are the first person I have heard criticise the UI on the phone as being not easy to use.

It's easier in that I can rename files/delete photos/transfer data using BT or IR/drag-and-drop - basically all the things I wish my iPhone could do.

ChurchCat wrote:
I think that is fair enough. The iPhone was launched as "three devices in one" not one of those devices was a computer.

No, but I had a list of simple criteria, which the iPhone seemed to fit. The problem is once using it, I have more wishes and desires than the iPhone can provide. Maybe I've outgrown it?

I'm currently having a bit of a mare getting my contacts over from my old phone. I've managed to get them into CSV format using Nokia's application. There is no obvious way of importing a CSV file into the phone. I can't use the Yahoo or Gmail sync as most of the contacts are work which leaves the Windows address book which appears to have not been put onto our corporate XP image. I'm now trying to work out how to get the Windows Address book onto the laptop. Any ideas gratefully received.
