I'm sure I saw it posted here but CBAed to look for it. Didn't Nolan say in his Batman universe, there's no room for other superheroes including Supes?

Yeah, but he's only 'mentoring' Supes.

Also, he's stated this is his last Batman, though the studio will no doubt park a Brinks truck at his door  , or carry on with him as producer/hire someone else - too much money has been made not to

So Henry Cavill, Our New Superman, Was Almost McG's Superman!! + Learn Who Else Was In The Running (Winklevi!)

Yesterday we learned that Henry Cavill had been cast in Zack Snyder's new SUPERMAN movie.

Over at The Hollywood Reporter, Borys Kit has this brief-but-interesting piece about Cavill's casting - naming other actors who came close to landing the gig. Seems Cavill getting the part was, in large part, pre-destined.

Interestingly, Cavill was on McG's short list when the director was poised to take on the SUPERMAN franchise a few years back. When McG's involvement with that project waned (allegedly because McG was too scared to fly to required meetings, locations, and destinations), Bryan Singer came aboard and cast the picture his way - bringing us the underappreicated Brandon Routh and an otherwise lackluster film.

Sounds like Cavill came back onto Supes' radar when he caught Christopher Nolan's eye while trying to land the role of Bruce Wayne in BATMAN BEGINS. Nolan, of course, directed BATMAN BEGINS - and was a key component in getting this new SUPERMAN relaunch off the ground.

Late last year, many indications pegged Matthew Goode as a Superman front runner - Goode previously worked with Snyder on WATCHMEN, in which he played Adrian Veidt (Ozymandias). THR's sources say that Goode was "Cavill's closest competitor this time around" - so I guess those rumors were, indeed, correct. Other actors who considered include Matthew Bomer (on television's CHUCK, TRU CALLING, and GUIDING LIGHT), Joe Manganiello (Sookie's Werewolf escort on TRUE BLOOD), Colin O'Donaghue (who's currently on the big screen in THE RITE), and the magnificent Armie Hammer - recently seen as The Winklevi in THE SOCIAL NETWORK. Famously, Hammer was cast as Batman in George Miller's now-defunct-mega-epic JUSTICE LEAGUE CGI movie. Hammer...yeah. I can totally see him as a superhero - he would've made an amazing Superman/Kent as well. Someone give him a good superhero role!

You can find more details, including examples of Nolan's secrecy, in Mr. Kit's article HERE.

This is a perfect time for me to restate that McG should be kept away from ALL feature films (his TV work isn't too bad) ;)

Is Jessica Biel A Frontrunner To Play Snyder's Lois Lane??

(Typos ahoy! ;) )

THIS piece at What'sPlaying reveals the names they've heard to be orbiting the Lois Lane role in Zack Snyder's new SUPERMAN movie (starring Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman).

Said to be among the contenders...

Rachel McAdams...who was previously connected to Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. This could make some sense given that Cavill's orbiting of Nolan's BATMAN BEGINS purportedly placed him on Nolan's radar - thus helping him (eventauly) land the title role in this Nolan-produced SUPERMAN gig. Perhaps a similar pattern will unfold with McAdams?

Dianna Agron, from Television GLEE.

Malin Akerman, who played Laurie Jupiter/Slik Spectre II in Snyder's WATCHMEN. The site conjectures she may be too old to play against Cavill's younger Kent/Supes. Peraonlly, I don't see that the age differential wouold be all that big a factor - or be particualrly difficult to work around. Although, not sure if she's bring sthe right "vibe" to the role.

TWILIGHT's Kristen Stewart. Not seeing how this would work. Lois, as a character and personality, needs to be at least somewhat awake.

And...the actress the site says may well have the inside track on becoming the new Lois Lane? Jessica Biel.

Again, this is all per What'sPlaying - it'll be fun and intertresting to see how accurate such insight and forecasts are. Click HERE for a bit more on the matter.
