My TV came with ISF calibration built in. Wonder if it's still worth doing the THX one?

If you've got ISF then it's worth paying an ISF engineer to come round and do it for you.

I used a DVD called HD Bascis -which is a disk of patterns and tests to calibrate a HD TV.

I got a good picture with it.

OK I will ask a probably stupid question: what's BD and TDK?

I know but I'm cheap. It includes an ISF user mode you can do yourself and it features a lot more control over the image tuning than typical TVs I've had before (individual hues and allsorts!). Took bloody ages in fact. Good enough for me.

Ohhh

Thanking you :) I'm not interested in Blu-Ray myself. Hope to get Sky HD next year though.

As this is the Avatar thread I'm guessing that BD = Blue Dudes, but I don't know what TDK is, aside from a cassette tape brand name

Used the T2 DVD to do the THX bit (half convinced I'd done it previously anyway) - still not seeing what the fuss is after testing TDK

I saw it and, although it didn't make it to my top ten favourtie films of all time (or anywhere close), I did enjoy it.

I did think it was a live-action version of Fern Gully though.

LOL

I saw it over crimbo. Watched it twice and the second time didn't interest me as much, it was enjoyable though. The fern gully comment is spot on. Still think it was overhyped as much of James' stuff is.

I think TDK means The Dark Knight, as in Batman.
