"Are long distance relationships ever worth it?" If you're really in love with each other, then the answer should be blindingly obvious. Is the relationship worth the effort, or do you feel like you could let her go with minimal heart ache and find someone else? Like a lot of people, I'm quite familiar with the "long distance" thing. I'm currently dating a girl in London and it's a pain in the backside. I hate London. It stinks, it's really difficult to travel to and it's really expensive with all the train, tube, bus, taxi and parking fairs. It's ridiculous that it takes me over 3 hours to get there by whatever means, when the train does most of the journey in 30 minutes! A "joined up" transport policy would make a huge difference, but that's a pipe dream... However, for me it's definitely worth the effort. I didn't even consider London to be "long distance", considering I previously dated a girl in Holland for several years. Although ironically, I can get to Amsterdam more quickly and often cheaper than I can get to SW6 The primary caveat is; where do you see the relationship going? Long-distance for me can only be an interim measure until the relationship is cast in stone. I'd never see someone unless I believed there was a good chance of it ending with us settling down together and starting a family. That's never going to happen if both parties want to pursue separate careers in separate towns, unless you fancy commuting for hours every day for the rest of your life and never actually see each other or the kids...

Thanks Early days; just a couple of months since first contact. Things are going slowly because of the distance and her lack of Interwebs so there's no wedding bells just yet, but it's all good so far

I would move to London to be with her, but I find London to be such a soul-destroying place I'd probably end up under a tube train. I don't expect her to move to Cornwall, just to visit (I have been up there numerous times), and then for us both to make sacrifices in finding a mutually-agreeable place to live. Put it this way, I've opened a savings account to start saving for a small circle of gold with some carbon on top of it. After talking with her I began to realise that I was just being irrational and insecure. As for Devon vs. Cornwall, everyone knows Somerset is best! *goes off singing " I am a cider drinker".*

Are long distance relationships worth it.
Well yes they are but you have to work hard to keep them going.
some two and a half years ago I met a lovely young lady,at a totally random place. We got chatting as you do,it turned out she lived around the north London area and I was living in the metropolis more commonly known as Manchester. Quite a distance apart It was and highly irregular meeting times, maybe two, three four or seven weeks would go by in between rendezvous.
At that time neither of us had a great deal of spare cash to spend on traveling. She was In a dead end job and I had recently been cleaned out by my Ex,left with nothing more than a gold watch which i pawned for rent and food money. Anyhow we both tried our hardest and saved every penny each month.
I was ready to move away from Manchester and move on In my life. (forgive and forget ) We would regularly chat over the internet, her on her ancient Dell and me on my Powerbook G4 (I still have the old G4 It's served me well, through thick and thin)(I'm typing on It right now) Well not RIGHT now as I will have typed this on the G4 and then you will read THIS after I have typed It but I'm sure you know what I mean.
Well anyway I found a really good job near to where she lived, with a reasonable salary, now two years into this job I've had numerous pay rises for my skills. I now earn 30% more than when I started.
In three weeks time I get married.
Cj.

Yipes! Best wishes and Good luck! I think she posted on my forum once, after checking your Internet cache and finding our porn thread. Although it was quite a while ago so maybe I remember wrongly. Neither of you have been there for years!

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.
