What's a life?

 Bike ride into town today. Just as we were on the final stretch by the market, a kid threw one of those paper snappers things at me. I stopped (in what my wife described as a "dirt bike slide" - still got that skill, it seems - also, my brakes work in an emergency!) to give him a piece of my kind, and he ran off leaving his friend, who was transfixed, to take the telling off. My wife, who's a teacher, was in "teacher angry" mode. I was in genuinely angry mode, and basically we told him that it was an idiotic thing to do, and his friend can't be much of a friend if he runs off to leave others to take the flack for his misdemeanours.
I thought: tough - this kid is either culpable in some form, and is going to learn a lesson about who to pick as friends. Even if he didn't lob the thing, he was pretty much there as an accomplice, so he got chewed out (apparently, this had been going on all day, he told us). Last thing I said before I carried on was "you want to find better friends because that one's a w@nker".
In better cycling news, my time into town has dropped by 10 minutes since I started in September, and my asthma seems not to be causing problems.

Are memory spans so short these days they can't wait until the end of the show, in case they forget. Or, heaven forbid, someone posts the same things they were about the say!

I had to take today off for professional reasons. I've also booked off tomorrow as "recovery". Except I'm now wondering whether to go in or not. Not sure I'd have anything useful to do (rota has been adjusted to take into account my day off).
