It's still bad writing/reporting even if there is another snippet of information in a different paragraph.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Given that 25 years ago 1.5L 4 cyclinder turbocharged engines produced more than double that, I think that the problem is more likely to be framing the regulations carefully enough to restrict the outputs to those levels. As an illustration, a 1986 1.5L 4 cyclinder BMW F1 turbo engine was rebuilt by some Australian enthusiasts a few years ago. Here are the dyno results from that unit; 802 BHP @ 9700 rpm and 3.3 bar boost. Bear in mind that, back in the day, these used to run up to 11500 rpm and 5.5 bar in qualifying....

I thought that they used to run at up to 19000 rpm?

That is with the more recent 2.4l V8s, the engines being discussed in your quote are from the laste 80s.

As long as I can still see who is overtaking who then I don't really car which company has bought 50cm^2 advertising space on the front port side wing tip.

Confirmed... Martin Brundle & David Coulthard to be F1 commentatorsJonathan Legard is out and David Coulthard is to commentate with Brundle. Should be interesting, although it can be good to pair up a driver with a non-driver, I just found Legard made too many mistakes and was too annoying! I'm probably in the minority, but I always thought James Allen worked well with Brundle. I just hope Coulthard and Brundle don't get too bogged down in the technical side, which drivers tend to do, rather than get enthusiastic about a good race.

I never really liked leggard. I did spot a lot of mistakes he made from rules to driver identification etc... DC and brundle should be interesting.

I still have to get any Freeview in HD. Though in future it will be a plus.

Legard drives me mad. He makes far too many mistakes during a race, has trouble recognising drivers in cars, over-eggs very minor incidents....
I especially like it when he says something for Brundle to flatly correct him. Brilliant.
In a way I guess I'll miss him. He was annoying but funny at the same time too.
