Trying to organise cheap flights to Iceland that co-ordinate for arrivals & departures. *sigh*

It's amazing what comes back around on the Beeb News' 'Most Read'

Quote:
Tributes for Apple 'visionary' Steve Jobs

It's no wonder so many people assume some stories are new.

That frikkin winds me up. There have been quite a few stories in the most read section and I wonder what resurrects them.

ION: how much should I spend on an engagement ring? I seem to recall three months' paypacket but is that gross or net?

Spend as much as you want to get the right ring.
There's no need to constrain yourself to some weird notion that you earn so-and-so therefore you can only spend X amount of pounds.

Agree with Mark, we got the rings we wanted. A pair for less than a months pay packet, but of all the rings we saw, they were the ones we wanted. That is still a lot of money for us, and more than 3 times the price of her previous engagement rings (it is her third time, my first).

I would say it depends on how much you have saved and how much you can afford. If you really love each other, then there is no need to go into debt for a ring! I was prepared to pay more, but we were happy with our choice.

Mine was a beautiful black rhodium and cz ring from Argos! It's the commitment that means something, not the bling! (disclaimer: I am NOT like most women!)

No, you're not.

You're better.

As much / little as you want. The 1/2/3 month thing (it keeps on going up) has purely been a product of De Beers marketing. Pre about 1920, no one would have even bought a diamond ring on an engagement.

What ingredients I'm missing to be able to make pancakes tomorrow. And whether to make 'European' or 'American' ones...

What flag did readers vote for in the Guardian's poll to replace the union jack if Scotland becomes independent? And what do the winners tell us about ourselves?

http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign ... -flag-poll

The black gives off a 'no fcuking about' impression.

I've never been a fan of the American style ones but we recently made some glutenfree ones with my sister using almond flour, ground flaxseed, margarine, eggs and baking power. Much better than the shop bought ones. Still not as good as the EU version. Went great with berries and jam though.

It would certainly piss off the 'No Black In The Union Jack' crowd.

Well I have enough to get a Kindle Paperwhite or 3G version. Though I will be waiting for the next one out in a couple of months but was wondering if people thought the 3G version was worth the extra over the wifi version. Does any one have any experience of whether they can tether it to an iPhone? As I will be taking my phone with me I might not actually need any 3G capability if I can do any syncing away from home via the iPhone. Thanks.

I can certainly use my Droid's Wi-Fi hotspot (tethering) to download books from Amazon. I wouldn't bother with the 3G version, you're probably not likely to use it that often and the Paperwhite is already slightly heavier than the basic Kindle. I imagine your iPhone will work similar to my phone.
