I'm still amazed a lot of publishers don't offer older out of print books on Kindle. It's got to be a farily cost effective way of getting sales.
I went on looking for The Plague Dogs the other day. The only paper copy that wasn't a rip off had to be shipped from Europe. I'd have much preferred a kindle copy.

Yes I have a Kindle wish list set up for that purpose. I am thinking about travel adaptors though they might be useless where I am planning on going.

This is also on it. Though not so sure I will need one. I am very careful so might cope without.

I prefer paper copies but would like an extra Kindle version for travelling with.

The good thing about the Kindle charging lead is it's essentially generic, I've used old phone chargers and all sorts with it - the Amazon fast-charger is a bit of a con. You might still need an adaptor obviously.

You'd be better getting a slipcase IME. The weight full-on cover's add to the Kindle's not good, are often bulkier than you'd think, and a slipcase stands out more when you need to go looking for it! I've got this

I also purchased this because I've got the previous Paperwhite and unless they've changed it, I think the texture of the casing is icky. Not to mention how greasy it gets...

Obviously other designs are available ;)

You'll have protected your Kindle front and back on the cheap :D

Is it my imagination or does Google get more useless as time goes on?

Say you've got two people in the wider media with the same/similar name and the more famous person is more prominent in the search results, that's fair enough. But when you start giving it identifiers like roles they've had, descriptions, naming who they work for... and it still doesn't work?

I'm convinced it never used to be this crap :?

Yeah, the Kindle cable is standard mini USB, I've used dozens of different chargers and plug my phone into the Kindle cable to charge in the bedroom.

Kindle and phone chargers are the same........... only they aren't. The cable on the Kindle one is miles longer, making it much more useful. I use my kindle charger to charge everything.

You are right. The lifespan of the kindle battery is a month so I really do not need to get a travel charger, I doubt that I would be away that long anyway. Plus I am actually planning on another USB charging methods that will be more flexible. If I am near a power point I will be able to daisy chain off any of my other USB devices.

The slip is actually a better idea than a case. I never considered the weight aspect. Also I would save £24 as well. Thanks for that.

That month depends on how bright you need it, if it's somewhere sunny you can knock it right off, and even minimum backlighting is very useful.

I always have my paperwhite light set to minimum.
In the day it seems more like paper that way. At night it's perfect in a pitch black room/cabin etc. (Enough to read but won't disturb others).
It's just a pity you can't fully turn teh light off during the day.

I know. It would make the battery last even longer.

Thanks for all the comments. So now I will wait for the next Kindle upgrade which apparently is early Q2 2014, so could be any day now really. 8-)
