I just have no desire to watch anything in 3D - I'm either interested in a show or I'm not, anything else is likely to just be a distraction.

I used to think that. And the one film I saw in 3D at the cinema (Into Darkness) did nothing to change that.
However when I went to the Gadget Show last year there was some new 3D TV's running a demo by Samsung and LG. The 3D effect on the Samsung one was okay, but the LG 3D effect was spectacular. The demo was a 3D loop of some athletics and track & field events. The effect was very very good, much better than the cinema. I can really see how sports would be good to watch in 3D. I'd love to see something like the Snowboard Cross as the Olympics in 3D. (Though I'm at work when they're on this year :( )

I don't think they'd be broadcast that way anyway. The BBC has the rights and they've given up with 3D broadcasting IIRC.

I'd happily settle for 2D. I just don't want to miss the event, which I will. :(

The last 3D thing the BBC made was the 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who. They and ESPN have stopped their 3D activities, which is probably a good thing. While you may think that sport and some dramas would make for good 3D, imagine Pointless (and other dull game shows) shot in the format.

Has anyone here suffered such a failure? I have not so far.

New Apple TV rumoured to support games

It could be genius so long as they have the wit to promote it heavily this time and put a controller in the box. Another content gateway for them and their partners.

If you can play games that you have already bought for an iPad or iPhone that would make a lot of sense.

There were a couple of pretty good ones before Christmas. Been quiet since then, but that's true of the games industry in general really.

It looks like they have come to their senses. They looked like they were becoming very similar to each other in looks.

How useful will a 20" tablet or phone really be. A large tablet could have some uses. I would use one as an alternative to a TV with all the TV apps available. Giant phone would make me feel like Dom Joly.
